Showtime Management, the production company behind the South African mounting of the international production of PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT, has announced the extension of the Johannesburg season of the show. Opening on 29 April at Montecasino's Teatro, PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT was originally scheduled to close on 28 May, but popular demand has led to the show being extended until 18 June. A special Worker's Day performance has also been added at 18:00 on 1 May, offering audiences an opportunity to end the long weekend.

PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT is a heart-warming and uplifting tale of three drag artist friends who hop aboard a battered old bus that they christen Priscilla, and go off on the adventure of a lifetime through the Australian Outback, to perform in Alice Springs. On the way, they find friendship and love beyond their wildest dreams.

With a dazzling array of over 450 award-winning costumes, 200 extraordinary hats and head-dresses and a hit parade of dance-floor favourites including "I Will Survive", "Hot Stuff", "Finally", "Boogie Wonderland", "Go West", "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", and "I Love The Nightlife", this wildly fresh and funny musical is 'a journey to the heart of fabulous'.

Since PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT opened in Cape Town over a week ago, the show has received nightly standing ovations. The rapturous applause at every performance is almost loud enough to lift the roof of Artscape's Opera House as the audience delights in applauding the multi-talented 28-member South African cast on stage.

The fervour of Cape Town audiences has spread to the highveld, setting the demand for tickets at a premium, says Showtime Management's Hazel Feldman who encourages patrons to book sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. Showtime Management is offering a special discount of 10% for bookings of six or more tickets, valid for the two top-tier ticket prices at any show excepting Saturdays at 20:00.

To hop on board the bus for a most entertaining journey, book online at Computicket, by phone on 0861 915 8000, or in person at your nearest Computicket service centre. PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT contains some strong language and adult themes, with parental guidance recommended for children under the age of 12.
