Stuart Cairns and Westley Cockrell

Stand-up comedy duo Stuart Cairns and Westley Cockrell will perform their show, THE PLOTHOLE, Down in the Basement at the Book Lounge on 27 May. The show had runs at the National Arts Festival and in Cape Town and Johannesburg last year and will return to Grahamstown for a second season at the end of June. This year, the duo has enlisted Rob van Vuuren, who is currently appearing in LIFE at the Baxter Theatre Centre, to direct the show.

THE PLOTHOLE brings to life the trials and tribulations that comics face while pursuing careers in stand-up comedy. From keeping a day job to chasing the impossible dream of
impressing their parents, these two oddballs will have you laughing at their expense.

Cairns, who was the winner of Laughmaster in 2014, and Cockrell, who won the 2015 Joke Slam, are fresh new talents on the South African entertainment scene. They have been producing shows all over the country and run several monthly and weekly gigs in Cape Town, including hosting, auctioneering and stand-up comedy. Both of their acts have been featured on numerous occasions on television and radio platforms, such as Good Hope FM with Nigel Pierce, as well as on the Internet in News 24's "Real News, Funny People". They have performed at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, at the Cape Town Comedy Club and have been featured on PANTS ON FIRE.

THE PLOTHOLE will be performed at the Book Lounge on 27 May. Tickets cost R50 and must be paid in cash. Tickets are limited, with no more than four tickets permitted per person booking. Bookings can be made by phone on 021 462 2425 or by emailing the Book Lounge.
