Anne Hirsch and Leon Clingman will
perform in the Improguise Improv Festival

Improguise, Cape Town's best and most loved improv group, currently performing every Monday night this year at the Galloway Theatre on the premises of the Waterfront Theatre School, will be returning to the Kalk Bay Theatre for another fabulous Improv Festival, from Tuesday 10 March to Sunday 15 March 2015.

This will be the third Improv Festival at the Kalk Bay Theatre and possibly the most intense one yet, with different performances every day, from Tuesday to Sunday, including new formats that are all set to entertain Cape Town audiences. The cast includes Megan Furniss, Anne Hirsch, Carolyn Lewis, Tandi Buchan, Brett Fish Anderson, Ryan Jales, Leon Clingman, Ardine Fick, Tarryn Saunders, David Luyt, Candice Van Litsenborgh Ashley Peter and Hilton Pelser.

"Our first two improv festivals were a roaring success," says Tandi Buchan, Improguise's artistic director. "In fact, it's going to be a fun challenge making this one even better, so what we have done is offer audience favourite formats and new ones, so there is something for everybody. It's even a great idea to come more than once!"

The programme runs includes Theatresports (on 10 March), the hugely popular show with an emcee, judges from the audience and two teams competing in a series of games with suggestions from the audience; South African Soap Opera (11 March), where a few suggestions from the audience will help create a brand new, never seen before soap opera in a highly addictive improv format; Documentary (12 March), in which the improvisers' skills are stretched to their limits as they concoct a completely made up full length documentary in front of the audience; Stuck in the Middle (13 March), where one improviser will be 'stuck in the middle' and on stage for an hour, while everyone else causes mayhem around him or her in brand new scenes; Superscene (14 March), an audience favourite where 6 improvising directors compete against each other for the last one standing; and Matinee Musical (15 March), where the whole family gets to witness the extraordinary magic of a fully improvised musical, made up and sung before their eyes.

Performances of the Improv Festival take place at 20:30 during the week and at 18:30 on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets cost R120 via 0793618275, or book online at the Kalk Bay Theatre website. To book for dinner before the show, call 0793618275. Kalk Bay Theatre restaurant patrons get first choice of the unreserved seating in the theatre, but no orders are taken after 7:45pm. Advance booking for the festival is highly recommended.
