The latest Alexander Bar run of Yasmina Reza's THE UNEXPECTED MAN, directed and performed by Shaun Acker and Zanne Solomon, concludes this weekend, with 7pm performances on Friday and Saturday. This highly acclaimed production has been performed to sold-out houses in Cape Town, as well as a successful run at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in 2013.

The play follows a man and a woman siting opposite each other in the detached intimacy of a train compartment. They have never met. He is a world famous author; she is the ardent admirer of his work. She carries his latest book in her bag. A literary masterpiece, the play is written by the Tony Award-winning Reza and has been translated by Christopher Hampton. Touching, funny and poignant, the audience is sucked into the imaginations of the two characters that are desperate to break out of their inner worlds and make a connection with each other.

Performances of THE UNEXPECTED MAN take place at 7pm nightly at Alexander Bar Theatre & Café, on the Corner of Loop and Strand Streets in the Cape Town City Bowl. The cosy venue serves food and snacks, and has a fully stocked bar. Feel free to bring your drink into the theatre, and have a drink with the performers after the show. Tickets are available through the Alexander Bar website.
