LIVING ROOM DANCERS and PRAYER TO THE NEW MOON
are two highlights at INFECTING THE CITY this year

The Africa Centre is proud to announce its 8th annual Public Arts Festival, INFECTING THE CITY. From 9 - 14 March, 48 unique artworks will inject the City of Cape Town's public spaces with music, visual and performance art, dance, video and art forms without definition.

The festival includes a curatorial panel this year rather than a single curator. Curators Farzanah Badsha, Nadja Daehnke, Mandla Mbothwe and curatorial intern Mandisi Sindo bring their own perspectives to the programme from a range of artistic disciplines and contexts. Festival Curator Jay Pather also returns this year to oversee the process.

Some of the many highlights included in this year's festival programme include: MADNESS - A PRELIMINARY SKETCH, composed by Neo Muyanga, a multi-media work with choir that explores issues of mental health in today's demanding society; PRAYER TO THE NEW MOON, by the New Moon Collective, which offers an evocative night-time performance inspired by /Xam mythology and poetry in the spectacular setting of the Castle of Good Hope; Bedlam Oz's international street theatre classic SLINKIE LOVE, which will entertain audiences with a charming story of two 6-metre slinkies falling in love; KHOSI by Luthando Mthi, which incorporates traditional music and dance to explore the significance of ancient religious rituals for the people of the South; Francois Knoetze's urban, mythological creatures composed of garbage and other waste materials, which will traipse around the Strand Concourse Centre in Cape Mongo; and LIVING ROOM DANCERS by Nicole Seiler, which will feeds audiences' voyeuristic appetites with intimate dance performances, visible from the street with binoculars, in flats throughout the CBD.

The programme has been designed to stimulate curiosity, exploration and wonder for the city, challenging our default habits and patterns when it comes to living, working and playing in the city.

The festival will be launched on 9 March at 18:00 inside the Groote Kerk on 43 Adderley Street. Festival news is uploaded to our Twitter and Facebook pages daily. Follow the conversation via #InfectingCT. THe full programme for INFECTING THE CITY can be downloaded here.
