PREMIERES (Paulette Haupt, Artistic Director), the New York based music theater organization whose mission is 'to bring new music theater to light,' recently opened this season's INNER VOICES, the biennial series of solo works featuring new teams of playwrights and composers. The show plays a limited run through Saturday, November 17, 2018 at The TBG Mainstage Theatre (312 West 36th Street - between 8th & 9th Avenues). Opening Night is Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 8:00pm.

Last night, Live Source Theatre Group (Tyler Mercer, Co-Founder & Executive Artistic Director; Chris Dieman, Co-Founder & Artist in Residence) held its annualSpring Gala, honoring designers Reid Bartelme and Harriet Jung for their outstanding contribution to costume design. Bartelme and Jung, co-founders of the costume and fashion design company Reid & Harriet, have designed costumes for Justin Peck, Pontus Lidberg, Marcelo Gomes, Pam Tanowitz, Emery Lecrone, Kyle Abraham, Mauro Bigonzetti, and Doug Varone. They have costumed productions at American Ballet Theater, New York City Ballet, Miami City Ballet, and Pacific Northwest Ballet. Along with Justin Peck, they are featured in the documentary Ballet 422 which premiered at the 2014 TriBeCa Film Festival.
Cry-Baby The Musical makes its Long Island Premiere tonight at The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre, running through May 12th.
Gloucester Stage Company continues its 38th season of professional theater on Cape Ann with N. Richard Nash's moving American classic The Rainmaker from July 14 through August 5 at 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Set in the time of a paralyzing drought in Depression-era America, The Rainmaker tells the story of a pivotal hot summer day in the life of spinsterish Lizzie Curry, whose father and two brothers are worried as much about her marriage prospects as they are about their dying cattle. Enter Starbuck, the consummate con man, who promises to solve all their problems, for a fee. Directed by Gloucester Stage Artistic Director Robert Walsh, The Rainmaker cast features Brian Homer as Starbuck; Jessica Bates as Lizzie Curry; David DeBeck as H.C. Curry, the patriarch of the Curry family; Joe Short and Sean McCoy as the Curry brothers; Dave Rich as File and longtime Gordon College Professor of Theater Arts Norm Jones as Sheriff Thomas. N. Richard Nash's most celebrated play, The Rainmaker, appeared in all three mediums; on Broadway in 1954, as a motion picture starring Katharine Hepburn in 1956, and as a television production in 1982. A musical version of The Rainmaker, entitled 110 Degrees in the Shade, debuted on Broadway in 1963.
The cast of LORD OF THE FLIES just celebrated opening night in London, just before the production embarks on a six-month UK tour. The sold-out run at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre ends this Saturday, with a UK tour launching from New Victoria Theatre, Woking next Wednesday 16 September. KING LEAR will run through Sunday, November 20 in The Public's Newman Theater with an official press opening on Tuesday, November 8.
Italian-American composer Gian Carlo Menotti's The Saint of Bleeker Street, opened at The Dicapo Opera on Saturday night. The Saint of Bleeker Street, written in English and dating from 1954, is the story of a simple young girl in New York's Little Italy who is blessed (or afflicted) with the stigmata and hears voices and sees visions.
On Saturday, July 31, stage favorites Patti LuPone, Audra McDonald, Michael Cerveris and George Hearn teamed up with the Ravina Festival and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in tribute to Stephen Sondheim. Directed by Lonny Price and conducted by Paul Gemignani, the concert featured Sondheim classics from shows such as A Little Night Music, Sunday in the Park with George, Sweeney Todd, West Side Story, Gypsy and more. Stephen Sondheim is widely acknowledged as the most innovative, most influential, and most important composer and lyricist in modern Broadway history. He is the winner of an Academy Award, numerous Tony Award, multiple Grammy Awards and a Pulitzer Prize. Some of his other accolades include a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kennedy Center Honors (1993), the National Medal of Arts (1996), the American Academy of Arts and Letters' Gold Medal for Music (2006) and a special Tony Awardâfor Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre (2008).
Stephen Sondheim turned 80 on Monday, March 22nd, 2010 and he celebrated this landmark event with Roundabout Theatre Company at a special performance of Sondheim on Sondheim and star-studded tribute at Roundabout's 2010 Spring Gala: Sondheim 80.
Presented in association with Ontological-Hysteric Theater, previews for IDIOT SAVANT ran through November 3. The show opened officially last night, Wednesday, November 4 and runs through Sunday, December 13.
