Mel Brooks (music, lyrics and book) and Thomas Meehan’s (book) 2007 musical theatre adaptation of Brooks and Gene Wilder’s 1974 comedy horror film parody of the classic horror film genre is given new life with Alexander Berlage’s bold and brilliant interpretation of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN.

As previously reported, Galt MacDermot, composer of the musical Hair, has passed away on December 17 at 89 years old.

Last night Leonard Bernstein's Candide, directed by legend Broadway visionary Harold Prince was presented by the New York City Opera and BroadwayWorld was at the opening night festivities.

Collecting premieres around the world since 1971, when it reached Broadway, the classical musical comedy by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak, based on the parables of the Gospel of St. Matthew, is back to Sao Paulo with a new look, directed by Dagoberto Feliz

On Monday, November 14, Sonnet Repertory Theatre hosted its Tenth Annual Benefit and Cabaret. The event brought together a diverse and talented group of performers and composers at Joe's Pub to honor award-winning director and teacher, Gerald Freedman. Celebrating Freedman's career, this evening featured some of Broadway's greatest talents and legends, including Brian d'Arcy James, Jennifer Ferrin, Penny Fuller, Hal Holbrook, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Jeremy Jordan, Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, Terrence Mann, John Mauceri, Estelle Parsons, Austin Pendleton, Bryce Pinkham,Wesley Taylor, Alfred Uhry, Price Waldman, and Emily Young, and including special video tributes by Olympia Dukakis and Chita Rivera. This Broadway/San Diego ~ A Nederlander Presentation will clip-clop its way into the San Diego Civic Theatre from September 8 - 13, 2009.

Summer 2009 at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre gets into full swing when 'Monty Python's Spamalot' opens Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at 8 p.m. The popular musical lovingly ripped-off from the internationally famous comedy team's most popular motion picture, 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail,' will play for nine weeks only through September 6, 2009.

The Tony Award-winning Manhattan Theatre Club (Peter J. Solomon, Chairman of the Board; Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director; Barry Grove, Executive Producer) dedicated its Broadway theatre the 'Samuel J. Friedman Theatre' on Thursday, September 4. The ceremony began at the theatre (261 West 47th Street at 8th Avenue) . MTC previously announced that it was renaming its Broadway home, until now known as the Biltmore Theatre, the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in recognition of the pioneering Broadway publicist.
