Tony Roberts, celebrated actor of stage and screen, hosted Feinstein's/54 Below's one night only concert of Jule Styne, Bob Merrill, and Peter Stone's Tony nominated musical SUGAR, on Tuesday September 5th, joining Lesli Margherita, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Tony Sheldon, Neva Small, and Matt Hetherington. Music Theatre Wichita opens its 2017 Season, "Hollywood to Broadway: A Summer Festival of Musical Theatre" with the 2002 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, playing June 14-18 in the Century II Concert Hall in downtown Wichita, KS. The first of five locally produced Broadway-scale productions, Thoroughly Modern Millie launches the organization's 46th season, which is also the 30th season for producing artistic director Wayne Bryan.

Music Theatre Wichita continues its 45th summer season with an innovative, large-scale production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! at Century II Concert Hall in downtown Wichita, KS.

Doch auch die Urauffuhrung von SUGAR, der Musical-Version des Films, wurde ein außergewohnlicher Erfolg. Nicht zuletzt die swingende, eingangige Musik von Jule Styne, der in Hollywood und am Broadway als einer der ganz Großen galt, hat daran ihren Anteil. Das Musical erreichte am Broadway nach seiner Urauffuhrung 1972 uber 500 Auffuhrungen. Seitdem reißen sich die Theater um die ubermutige musical comedy. Am Anhaltischen Theater in Dessau fand am vergangenen Wochenende die Premiere von SUGAR statt, und wurde vom anwesenden Publikum und der Presse gleichermaßen bejubelt.

Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances.
