MY FAIR LADY ist eines der meistgespielten und populärsten Musicals überhaupt. Insbesondere im deutschsprachigen Raum bedeutete sein Erfolg den Durchbruch der Gattung Musical. Auf der Basis von George Bernard Shaws Komödie „Pygmalion' kam das Musical von Komponist Frederick Loewe und Textdichter Alan Jay Lerner 1956 am Broadway zur Aufführung und erlebte dort sensationelle 2717 Aufführungen. Am Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern hatte die Produktion am 31. Oktober Premiere. Vorstellungen laufen noch bis Juli 2016. Weitere Informationen gibt es unter pfalztheater.de. In der Hauptrolle der Eliza Doolittle ist Julia Klotz zu sehen, die kürzlich den Deutsche Musical Theater Preis fur die Darstellung in 'Gefährliche Liebschaften' am Gärtnerplatztheater München gewonnen hat. As I sat shaking my head in disbelief of what I was seeing and hearing on the Blank Canvas Theatre stage, those around me were howling with uncontrollable laughter. What I was seeing was ridiculous, unbelievable, and basically poorly performed. I'm not sure what was making my audience-mates laugh so hard, but I heard one of the young ladies behind me confide that she had just wet her pants and then I got sprayed by a shower of beer that came forth from her companion's nose as he exploded in laughter. Actors' Theatre of Columbus' season opens with the premiere of local playwright Vidas Barzdukas' Captain Blood. This story follows the adventures of Dr. Peter Blood who is convicted of treason for tending to the wounds of a nobleman during a rebellion against King James II in England and is sentenced to slavery on the island of Barbados. Once there, Blood finds love, escapes from slavery, and falls in with pirates, not knowing that his new career will take him back to the plantation and to the woman he left behind. (more...)

A Tribute to Polly Bergen, produced by Rex Reed and Michael Alden with creative consultant Deborah Grace Winer, celebrated her life and career with a star studded lineup of participants. They included Christine Andreas, Harry Belafonte, Arlene Dahl, Raul Esparza, Michael Feinstein, Gregory Harrison, Judith Ivey, Chris Matthews, Phyllis Newman, Kelli O'Hara and cast members from the 2001 revival of Follies.
