San Diego Repertory Theatre presents OUTSIDE MULLINGAR by John Patrick Shanley, the fourth production of its 40th Anniversary Season. REP Associate Artistic Director Todd Salovey directs his first production of the season, tackling Pulitzer, Tony and Oscar-winner Shanley's not-so-average romantic comedy set in Ireland. The show's run begins Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016 and runs through Valentine's Day on Feb. 14, 2016 with an opening night on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016 at 7 p.m. in the Lyceum Space Theatre at San Diego REP. Stephen Schnetzer has accomplished something very few actors can claim: he can get a favorable review from the notoriously hard to please critic John Simon. Schnetzer won a Soap Opera Digest award for Outstanding Comic Performance by an Actor (Daytime) for his work on Another World and has received numerous nominations for his acting. He has also appeared on Homeland, Forever, The Wire, The Following, The Blacklist, Damages, Law & Order, and other television shows. Theatre credits include The Goat or Who Is Sylvia?, Awake and Sing, Tribes, A Talent For Murder, Filumena, The Incomparable Max, and other plays. Schnetzer will soon appear at the Westport Country Playhouse in Arthur Miller's play, Broken Glass, and BroadwayWorld wanted to know more about him. (more...)

Beginning July 16 and continuing through August 8, Sierra Stages presents the over-the-top Mel Brooks musical comedy 'THE PRODUCERS' at the historic Nevada Theatre in Nevada City. Winner of an unprecedented 12 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, 'THE PRODUCERS' has music and lyrics by Mel Brooks and a book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan. The Sierra Stages production is directed by Susan Mason, with dance direction by George Jayne and musical direction by Ken Getz, who conducts the live theatre orchestra.
