What did our critic think of THE MUSIC MAN at Moorestown Theater Company?

Directed by Fernando Philbert, and starring Suely Franco, Deborah Evelyn e Nathalia Dill the play brings a biting comedy that reflects on the passage of time through the settling of accounts between three generations.

Meredith Wilson's 'The Music Man' is one of American musical theatre's most produced shows. Professional, community and educational theatres stage the show on a regular basis. The songfest, which is as American as apple pie and a Fourth of July fireworks display, is now on stage at Porthouse Theatre.

SCHOOL OF ROCK is heading to the Orpheum on April 23-28. Here to talk about the musical and his personal road to touring with a hit show is Layne Roate, who plays the roommate Ned Schneebly.

On March 19, 2018, Virginia's Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre honored legendary Broadway composer John Kander with the company's ninth Stephen Sondheim Award. The Stephen Sondheim Award was presented at a black-tie Gala Benefit at the Embassy of Italy and will benefit Signature Theatre's artistic, education, and community programs.

The international touring company of the beloved classic musical "West Side Story," which features music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and book by Arthur Laurents, will come to The Theatre at Solaire (Aseana Avenue, Solaire Resort and Casino) next month, August 10-27.

Tudo E Jazz - Um Tributo Musical a Kander & Ebb (And the World Goes 'Round - the Songs of Kander & Ebb) debuts at Sao Paulo stage. The show, which brings together renowned names in the cast, is a tribute to the great musicals of the duo John Kander & Fred Ebb, successful Broadway composers, responsible for creating Chicago, Cabaret, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and the great musical hit 'New York, New York', immortalized in the voices of Liza Minelli and Frank Sinatra.

Tisch New Theatre will present HAIRSPRAY, the musical based on the 1988 film written and directed by John Waters, April 1-4 at the NYU Skirball Center. With music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman, and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, HAIRSPRAY the musical premiered on Broadway in 2002 and won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent. Below, BroadwayWorld sends a fond farewell to those who passed away in 2014.

Laura Osnes, Santino Fontana, Betsy Wolfe, Andrew Samonsky, John Ellison Conlee, Ann Harada and more starred in Transport Group's concert presentation of THE MUSIC MAN. Hosted by Joe Iconis, the evening included 58 actors, and the original orchestration featuring 20 instruments, conducted by Joey Chancey, original choreography by Jeffry Denman. Hale Centre Theatre presents the Tony-winning musical HAIRSPRAY, now playing through Aug 24th 2013 on Thursdays at 7:00PM, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Saturday afternoons at 3PM. Walnut Street Theatre continues its landmark 204TH season with an all-new production of Broadway's five-time Tony Award-winning family musical, Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN. Directed and choreographed by Marc Robin, this production will feature Philadelphia's very own Jeffrey Coon and Broadway's Jennifer Hope Wills. The cast also includes a live horse that will pull the Wells Fargo Wagon in the first act. THE MUSIC MAN begins previews on November 6th, opens on November 14th and runs through January 6th on the WST Mainstage.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Utah Shakespeare Festival, a number of entities have come together to showcase the Festival in seven different exhibits. Guests will better understand the Festival's history by visiting these exhibits and seeing fifty years unfold through photos, programs, posters, displays, and a special showing of Shakespeare's First Folio.

Americans for the Arts, the leading organization for advancing the arts in America, announces its annual National Arts Awards honorees. The awards recognize those artists and arts leaders who exhibit exemplary national leadership and whose work demonstrates extraordinary artistic achievement. They are individuals-artists, business leaders and patrons-who understand the arts enrich people and communities alike. The National Arts Awards were presented on October 18th in New York City as part of National Arts and Humanities Month.
