Last night, approximately an hour before the curtain was raised for Moscow Ballet 'La Classique's' production of Tchaikovsky's ballet 'Swan Lake' at the New Frontier Theatre, the show's local promoters Yuri and Beth Mercado officially announced that the run has been canceled, which disappointed many.

Musical theatre is the land of collaboration, and anyone who's ever tried to write a musical knows that it can be a land filled with landmines. But for the ladies of the new musical Marie, Dancing Still, their collaboration seemed downright fated.

This weekend, the curtain goes up on The Philly POPS' Best of Broadway concert, presented as a part of the POPS' 39th season at The Kimmel Center for Performing Art's Verizon Hall. The event features recognizable favorites from more than twenty Broadway shows, as well as music from Disney. To mark the occasion of Jefferson Mays' 6,000th death in the Tony Award-winning Best Musical A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER, the production held a funeral procession down West 48th Street, as cast members and fans, all dressed in mourning attire, followed Mr. Mays, lying in state inside a glass-sided horse-drawn hearse, to the Walter Kerr Theatre stage door. Another outrageous original Halloween production has come out of New Jersey. For several years at 6 Flags in the Garden State, Pete Carter developed the character of The Ghoulmaster and his production of 'Ghoulmaster's Ghosts' ran for 6 seasons at Six Flags Great Adventure's Fright Fest in Jackson, New Jersey. It was hugely successful and grew into one of Fright Fest's most popular shows. Ghoulmaster's cult-like following grew with his message of acceptance, anti-bullying, and making your dreams a reality. His bizarre androgynous appearance appeals to anyone who ever felt like a misfit, a weirdo, or a freak, especially those of us who celebrate Halloween all year round.

MOORARTS HAS TALENT! provides a dazzling showcase of the inspirational talent of local youth in the areas of theater, vocal music, instrumental music and dance.

Every once in a while a play comes along that, without histrionics, searching for laughs or mystery plot twists, resonates with the human connection. 'Kin,' now on stage at Dobama Theatre, is such a script.

Rehearsals are underway for the regional premiere of Our SOn'S Wedding by Donna de Matteo, which begins performances on July 6 in Florida Studio Theatre's Gompertz Theatre. Husband and wife duo, actors Marina Re and Paul D'Amato, are enjoying their time recreating the roles of Mary and Angelo Lo Presto for the show.
