The story centers on a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effects that managing her illness has on her family. When 'Next to Normal' premiered in Norway back in 2010 it was the very first production to open after the original on Broadway a year and half prior. It was not a replica production, but mimicked it in a lot of ways. It had the three floor structure, endless amount of lightbulbs in the ceilings. This revival, that opened at Lørenskog Hus last Friday, is anything but a replica.

Next to Normal may not have Hamilton's name recognition; however it easily ranks as one of the greatest musicals of this century. Provocative and funny, topical and emotionally stirring, it's the musical art form at its best. DC theatergoers now have a fantastic opportunity to see the 2010 Pulitzer Prize Winner for Drama in a powerful, yet intimate, production at Keegan Theatre.

Fresh from their hit Broadway turns, Meghann Fahy (Next to Normal) and Andrew Durand (Spring Awakening) star in The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown. Talkin' Broadway calls the show's writing team of Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk 'the most important young writers in musical theatre today.' This original musical for Broadway's next generation will run from August 4 through 28, 2011 at The Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn., Goodspeed's home for developing new works. Pop/rock musical, Gay Bride of Frankenstein which recently closed a successful out of town run was back in NYC for a one night only industry concert reading at Joe's Pub on Tuesday, January 25 at 7:00 pm. Starring Louis Hobson, who played the role of Dr. Madden/Dr. Fine in Next to Normal since the musical's pre-Broadway engagement at Arena Stage in 2008. The concert also featured the following cast members from the out of town run: Ashley Kate Adams (reprising her role from NYMF), Megan Kane, Wade Elkins, Derek Carley, Joshua Moore, Bradley Gale, Britt Mack and Maggie Politi. Directed by Igor Goldin and musically directed by Patrick Dorow. The book was written by Dane Leeman, who also narrated the night and Billy Butler. Music and lyrics by Billy Butler.

San Diego actress Alice Ripley, who received the 2009 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning Next to Normal, reprises her acclaimed performance in the musical's 36-week North American tour. It will play January 18 - 23, 2011 at the Balboa Theatre, as a Broadway/San Diego ~ A Nederlander Presentation.

Multiple Tony Award nominee Marin Mazzie, Broadway veteran Jason Danieley and Meghann Fahy joined the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, NEXT TO NORMAL on Monday, July 19 at Broadway's Booth Theatre (222 West 45th street). Ms. Mazzie and Mr. Danieley play Diana and Dan Goodman, a married couple dealing with Diana's bipolar disorder and the effect it has on their family. Tony Award-winner Alice Ripley, currently starring in Broadway's NEXT TO NORMAL, had her caricature unveiled at the world famous Sardi's Restaurant on March 3rd. Ripley's likeness joined the ranks of Broadway royalty who have been honored with a caricature on the famous walls of Sardi's.
