The dog days of summer arrive early this year, as Rubicon Theatre Company presents a spring production of A.R. Gurney's howlingly funny canine comedy SYLVIA, a love story about empty nesters Greg and Kate, and an irrepressible mutt named Sylvia. Written by Drama Desk, Obie and Lortel Award-winning playwright A.R. Gurney (also known for Love Letters and The Dining Room), the plot follows what happens after a man going through a midlife crisis finds a dog in Central Park and brings her home without consulting his wife.

Gap in the Wall Productions presents 'The Last Castrato' by Guy Fredrick Glass, Off Broadway at the Connelly Theater, 220 East 4th Street Bet Avenue A & Avenue B subway: F to 2nd Ave.;6 to Astor. Inspired by true events, the play is directed by John Henry Davis. Previews begin on November 12th and the Opening is Tuesday, November 16th. www.lastcastrato.com.

Last of the Boys, by Steven Dietz, directed by Susan Arnold, will be presented by Beowulf Alley Theatre, 11 S. 6th Avenue, 85701, downtown between Broadway and Congress. Last of the Boys, a 2006 Pulitzer Prize nominee, is presented in recognition of and to honor our American military families for their shared sacrifice.

Actors Robert Wagner and Jill St. John were in attendance at a recent performance of Transport Group's THE BOYS IN THE BAND. The production is currently running through March 28 at 37 West 26th Street, Penthouse (b/w Sixth Ave. & Broadway).

Transport Group (TG), the winner of a special 2007 Drama Desk Award and a 2007 Obie Award, will present Mart Crowley's The Boys in the Band, directed by artistic director Jack Cummings III, beginning Friday, February 12, and opening Sunday, February 21, at 5pm in a site-specific production at 37 West 26 Street, between Broadway and Sixth Avenue, Penthouse.

FINIAN'S RAINBOW star Cheyenne Jackson will be joining the cast of the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series '30 Rock' next month. Jackson's first episode on the hit comedy series will on Thursday November 12th. The episode is titled 'THE PROBLEM SOLVERS' and will also feature Top Chef star Padma Lakshmi.

April is the cruelest - and most hilarious - month at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, when Les Waters lets loose with another shocking script from Martin McDonagh. In 2007, the Obie Award-winning director scored a direct hit with his extended run of The Pillowman; since then, the Academy Award-winning author released his first feature film, In Bruges.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre greets the new year by proudly presenting its 50th world premiere, a new comedy about marriage, intimacy, and electricity from the creators of Eurydice. Celebrated playwright Sarah Ruhl and Obie Award-winning director Les Waters come together again for the debut of In the Next Room (or the vibrator play). Commissioned by Berkeley Rep and staged in the state-of-the-art Roda Theatre, this hotly anticipated play begins previews on January 30, opens February 4, and closes March 15.
