The Broadway League and The Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG) presented the tenth annual Broadway Salutes ceremony on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Sardi's Restaurant (234 West 44th St).

DROWSY CHAPERONE is clever, albeit not a never-done-before mashup. It is a musical within a comedy complete with colorful characters, catchy music, and a cast of toe tapping extras. If you want to be entertained, this is for you. It is one hour and forty minutes of just plain fun!

The ninth annual edition of Broadway Backwards, a one-night-only performance produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and benefiting BC/EFA and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of New York, took place last night. This year's special event featured the talents of Michael Berresse (Kiss Me, Kate; A Chorus Line), Tony winner Beth Leavel (Elf, The Drowsy Chaperone), Tony winner Debra Monk (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, TV's 'Girls'), Ken Page (Ain't Misbehavin', Cats), Tony winner Billy Porter (Kinky Boots), Tony nominee Andrew Rannells(The Book of Mormon, TV's 'Girls'), Tony nominee John Tartaglia (Avenue Q, TV's 'Johnny and the Sprites.'), and more This year's edition of Broadway Backwards (#bwaybackwards) was held at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 W 45th Street, NYC), current home to the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Kinky Boots. American Idol star, Clay Aiken, is returning to the stage as 'Man in Chair' in North Carolina Theatre's production of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE along with Tony-Award winner, Beth Leavel, who will be reprising her role as 'The Chaperone.' The show is set to open tonight, May 7 through May 12 at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical A CHORUS LINE leaps, turns and taps its way to center stage at the Marriott Theatre, 10 Marriott Drive, previewing September 1, opening Sunday, September 12 at 5 p.m. and running through October 31. A CHORUS LINE is directed by Mark Lococo and choreographed by Rachel Rockwell. The iconic musical stars Broadway veteran Mara Davi as Cassie, who starred in the Broadway revival. She has also been seen on Broadway in WHITE CHRISTMAS as Judy and in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE as Janet, and boasts multiple Off-Broadway and regional credits. A CHORUS LINE is the longest running American musical in Broadway history, and is conceived and originally choreographed and directed by Michael Bennett, featuring a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleban.

The Ogunquit Playhouse was honored to have the Tony Award winning librettist and lyricist of The Drowsy Chaperone, Lisa Lambert in the audience for the Opening Night of the 'Musical Within a Comedy,' onstage now through June 26th.

Tony Award winner Sutton Foster performed her solo show 'An Evening with Sutton Foster' at the Kirk Douglas Theatre on April 29 and 30. Foster was accompanied by her Musical Director Michael Rafter. The 11th Annual Broadway Bears auction line-up, presented by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS on February 17 at 7PM, is here! Each year, 'Broadway Bears: A Costumed Teddy Bear Auction' is a much-anticipated BC/EFA event. These specially-designed bears (often using actual material from their respective Broadway productions, and autographed by the stars) raised $130,000 last year. BC/EFA hopes to reach even higher this winter!

Earlier this week, at theatre district hangout Tony's di Napoli, Tony's DiNapoli Times Square unveiled a portrait honoring the Bob Saget in the role of 'Man in Chair' from the musical The Drowsy Chaperone

On Friday, January 4, 2008 comedian Bob Saget, who recently made his Broadway debut as 'Man in Chair' in The Drowsy Chaperone, received his very own Sardi's portrait at the world-famous Sardi's Restaurant. Saget joins the ranks of Broadway royalty who have been honored with a caricature on the walls of Sardi's.

To commemorate its acclaimed and beloved Broadway run, The Drowsy Chaperone hosted a VIP private closing night party at Havana Central on December 30. The entire current Broadway cast and creative team, plus former cast members and friends celebrated the musical and toasted to its success.
