Opening Night of OKLAHOMA! at The Premiere Playhouse was a stroll down memory lane for the audience with a few “fresh takes' on the songs and scenes of the musical as written by Rodgers and Hammerstein.   The vocalists were all very strong performers and most of them were particularly inventive in their interpretations of songs.

Critics use the word “well” often when describing the arts. Something is “well-written,” “well performed,” “well-acted,” “well thought-out.” RAGTIME, which runs Sept. 22-Oct. 1 at the Lincoln Theatre (769 E. Long Street in downtown Columbus), is all of those things, and more.

BWW Review: Musical Theatre West Revisits the Epic RAGTIME in Grand Splendor
by Michael Quintos - Feb 14, 2020

Fifteen years after its first production of the musical, Musical Theatre West revisits the Tony Award-winning musical RAGTIME for only its second time---smartly reviving the musical in a similarly lavish production that beautifully converges the show's classic staging and vibe with wonderfully integrated 21st Century tech upgrades that help elevate the material rather than hinder its storytelling. Under the enlightened direction of Paul David Bryant (who also provides the production's high-energy choreography), this brand new, spectacularly engrossing production bellows with an emotional fervor and is one of my favorite iterations of this musical I have seen in recent years. This local revival---which continues performances at the Carpenter Center for the Performing Arts in Long Beach through February 23, 2020---is a feast for the senses.

BWW Review: TINY HOUSES Gets Built Saying A Lot About Life And Needs In World Premiere At Cleveland Play House
by Roy Berko - Mar 31, 2019

In 1906, San Francisco had an intense earthquake and resulting fires. Little did my newly immigrant grandfather know that when he went to build 'shacks' in the city by the bay, that he would be part of what has recently become a new trend-building 'Little Houses.' He constructed many 200 square feet or less temporary homes, some of which became permanent residences.

BWW Review: DCPA's OKLAHOMA! is Somethin' Special
by Chris Arneson - Sep 27, 2018

I'm probably not the only person catching their first professional production of Oklahoma! with the Denver Center Theatre Company. While the first Rodgers and Hammerstein collaboration has been performed plenty since its Broadway premiere in 1943, the DCPA's production is unique-nearly the entire cast is comprised of African-American performers.
