The American Classical Orchestra (ACO), New York City’s leading period instrument orchestra, has announced its 2022-23 season of four orchestral concerts conducted by Founder and Artistic Director Thomas Crawford, beginning on Thursday, September 22, with the first of three performances at Alice Tully Hall, and continuing through May 18, 2023. The soloists will include soprano Yulan Piao, mezzo-soprano Heather Petrie, tenor Lawrence Jones, bass Joseph Charles Beutel, pianist Petra Somlai, and violinist Rachell Ellen Wong.

Acis has released THE OCEAN OF ETERNITY - THE SONGS OF LORI LAITMAN Themes of life, longing and legacy permeate this new recording of songs by the celebrated American composer LORI LAITMAN.

Acis will present ARE WOMEN PEOPLE? - THE SONGS OF LORI LAITMAN, an album of new music with the issue of women's suffrage at its core. New York Tribune's ALICE DUER MILLER (1874-1942) ran her column, 'Are Women People?' from 1914-1917, greatly influencing public opinion about the participation of women in democracy.

There is tremendous support in our audience for bringing younger people into the theatre, and we're having some success in that regard. I'm positive, but I'm also unsure of where we are headed with digital technologies and what they mean for our industry and the larger culture. Our challenge, I suppose, is to be adaptive to what comes along without giving up the wisdom and glories of the past.

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts presents The Tetzlaff Trio performing Schumann's consummate Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 63, paired with Dvo k's remarkable masterpiece Trio No. 3 in F minor, Op. 65, on Friday, April 26, 2019, 7:30 pm, at The Wallis' Bram Goldsmith Theater. The trio, featuring siblings Christian Tetzlaff, violin, and Tanja Tetzlaff, cello, and Lars Vogt, piano, are touring North America for the first time in three years. They bring polish and passion to every performance, according to the New York Times. A free pre-concert Prelude at 6:30 pm, which includes a complimentary glass of wine provided by The Henry Wine Group, features Classical KUSC's Brian Lauritzen in conversation about the evening's program with the artists. In addition to performing masterworks from past centuries at major halls and with leading ensembles worldwide, pianist Kirill Gerstein has a deep interest in the music of our time, including that of composer Thomas Ad s, with whom he has formed a close artistic relationship and performs together twice next month at Carnegie Hall. On Wednesday, March 20 at 8:00 p.m., Mr. Gerstein gives the New York premiere of a new piano concerto composed for him by Mr. Ad s on commission from the Boston Symphony Orchestra, which performs the work under the baton of the composer, who is the BSO's Artistic Partner. The concerto is the second work on the program, which opens with Liszt's Mephisto Waltz No. 1 (orchestral version) and closes with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4.
