They Ain't Never Had a Friend Like James: Corden Makes Cameo Appearance in Aladdin!
by BWW News Desk - Sep 10, 2016

You Never Know what might happen with live theatre, and that was certainly the case for the lucky audience members who got to witness Tony Winner, Tony Awards Host, and everyone's favorite Carpool Karaoke driver, James Corden, in a cameo role at the Friday night performance of Disney's Aladdin on Broadway. Corden apparently assisted the Genie in the musical's show-stopping number, 'Friend Like Me.' No word yet as to what Corden and the rest of our friends from Agrabah are cooking up, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough on The Late Late Show. In the meantime, check out some of the tweets from fans who were abuzz with excitement at intermission and after the performance's curtain below! BWW Blog: Sam Weber - Just Another Day, Only a Day
by Guest Blogger: Sam Weber - May 23, 2016

If you're reading this, chances are I do not need to describe what many refer to as 'the magic' of theatre.  You're probably living it right now.  Whether this idea refers to the relationships within a cast, the effect of the show on an audience, or simply the energy that you can only feel onstage, there is certainly something special about being a part of theatre.  Now take all of those warm fuzzies, and put them into one tiny, little 24-Hour long box.  You shouldn't be able to, right?  But it's completely possible, and it's something students from all across my university have been doing for two years now. BWW Review: Fabulous Voices Can't Save Dull, Unoriginal IF/THEN at PPAC
by Robert Barossi - Jun 16, 2016

It's always a challenge to find a fresh, new, innovate way to tell a story. It seems at times like every story out there has already been told so the only option is to tell it again, but tell it differently. Use a storytelling technique that excites and engages the audience, and maybe it won't even matter what the story is. That idea, while it might sound good, just doesn't work in reality, as demonstrated by the current touring production of If/Then, now playing at Providence Performing Arts Center. The interesting way of telling the story just can't mask the fact that the story being told is incredibly ordinary, unoriginal and dull. (more...)

BWW Blog: Casey McGuire - Memorize!
by Guest Blogger: Casey McGuire - Jul 5, 2016

Memorization is what makes theatre; we memorize lines and cue and put everything together to tell a story, but in many cases, it is why a person doesn't do theatre. The big "M" word scares them away. Memorization can be tricky but you shouldn't be afraid of it because everything always seems to work out (at least in all my experiences they have). Here are some tips to help you memorize your lines faster. (more...)
