Sometimes the battle of the sexes is not enough.  The Drilling Company reads turf wars and class consciousness into its production of 'The Taming of the Shrew,' to be presented September 4 to 20 as part of Bryant Park Shakespeare, directed by Alessandro Colla.  In an intrepid adaptation, the popular comedy is transported to a modern New England fishing village, not unlike Martha's Vineyard, where Katherina is a member of the yachting set and Petruchio is a local fisherman.  (more...)

After a successful 10-year run, the Global Age Project festival of new works has evolved and shifted focus from discovery to development, including commissions, workshops, readings, and full productions of new plays. Every year, theater artists will be selected and given the opportunity to create new work via processes of their own devising. They will receive the financial support, resources, and physical space to create works specifically for Aurora's stages. Special consideration will be given to local theater artists. Aurora Theatre Company is pleased to announce that the first O+G two artists are Jonathan Spector with The State of Nature and Beth Wilmurt with Cabaret Olga. The Public Theater announced complete casting today for the world premiere three-play cycle THE GABRIELS: Election Year in the Life of One Family, written and directed by Richard Nelson. Featuring the same core acting company for all three productions, Play One: HUNGRY, will begin previews on Saturday, February 27 and run through, Sunday, March 20, with an official press opening on Friday, March 4, 2016. The second play, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?, will premiere in September and the final play in the new cycle, WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE, will open on election night, November 8, 2016. (more...)

Sometimes the battle of the sexes is not enough.  The Drilling Company reads turf wars and class consciousness into its production of 'The Taming of the Shrew,' to be presented September 4 to 20 as part of Bryant Park Shakespeare, directed by Alessandro Colla.  In an intrepid adaptation, the popular comedy is transported to a modern New England fishing village, not unlike Martha's Vineyard, where Katherina is a member of the yachting set and Petruchio is a local fisherman.  (more...)
