?From February 25 - March 6, 2016, in celebration of Artistic Director Emeritus Ben Stevenson's 80th birthday, Houston Ballet will revive his spectacular staging of The Sleeping Beauty. The ballet is a flagship work for the company and a piece that is recognized as one of the supreme achievements of classical ballet. The Sleeping Beauty is based on the classic French fairy tale by Charles Perrault: a beautiful princess is cursed by an evil fairy and doomed to sleep for 100 years - only to be awakened by the kiss of the handsome prince who loves her. Desmond Heeley's spectacular designs beautifully evoke the magic, drama and whimsy of this great work. A day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of orchestra seats will be held for Wicked, which is returning to Segerstrom Center for the Arts with performances from February 17 - March 6. Two and one-half hours prior to each performance, people who present themselves at the Segerstrom Hall box office will have their names placed in a lottery drum; thirty minutes later, names will be drawn for a limited number of orchestra seats at $25 each, cash only. This lottery is available only in- person at the box office, with a limit of two tickets per person. Lottery participants must have a valid photo ID when submitting their entry form and, if chosen, when purchasing tickets. (more...)

DEFYING GRAVITY: the songs of Stephen Schwartz is the world premiere concert production that is set to become the most exciting musical theatre event down under, playing at Sydney's Theatre Royale February 12-13. This event celebrating this incredible body of work is headlined by two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster (Anything Goes, Thoroughly Modern Millie) and Aaron Tveit (Les Miserables movie, Next To Normal, Catch Me If You Can) who will appear alongside internationally renowned West End star Joanna Ampil (Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, Cats), Helpmann Award winner Helen Dallimore (Blood Brothers, Legally Blonde) and David Harris(Miss Saigon, Legally Blonde) who is returning to Australia for this event.  Making a very special guest appearance is Tony Award winning Broadway, TV and film icon Betty Buckley (Cats, Pippin, Sunset Boulevard, Carrie) in her debut Sydney performance.
