While construction continues and St. Ann's works to raise the final $2 million of its $30 million capital campaign, the organization will present a stellar final season in its temporary home at 29 Jay Street in DUMBO. It kicks off this October when TR Warszawa and director Grzegorz Jarzyna return for the American Premiere of their internationally acclaimed production of Sarah Kane's 4:48 Psychosis, which St. Ann's Founder / Artistic Director Susan Feldman has wanted to bring to New York since she first saw it in February 2004 -- the same year St. Ann's presented the American Premiere of the original Royal Court production of Kane's play. St. Ann's Warehouse also announced the following season highlights today: Emma Rice and Kneehigh, The Wooster Group, the Slovenian choral group Carmina Slovenica, and The Tiger Lillies. (more...)

Camp Media Theatre Goes to 'Oz,' Starting 8/11

The final two-week session for Camp Media Theatre 2014 starts up August 11. It's OZ Camp, in which all songs performed by the campers will be gleaned from 'The Wizard of Oz', 'The Wiz', or 'Wicked'. Camp Media Theatre has had a record-breaking summer. 'We have had more campers this year than ever before,' said Executive Director Patrick Ward. 'As we head into our final two-week session for this year we are getting ready to follow the yellow brick road. We really appreciate the support of each family who has been involved.' (more...)

Kristin Chenoweth to Make Provincetown Debut, 8/10

Kristin Chenoweth, star of Broadway's original "Wicked" and Tony-Winner for "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown," will make her anticipated Provincetown debut in Broadway @ Town Hall (a part of the acclaimed Broadway @ The Art House series) on August 10 for two shows only at 6:30pm and 9:00pm. Chenoweth will be appearing in Provincetown after two sold-out concerts at Carnegie Hall this past May and the Royal Albert Hall in London two weeks ago. The producers of the Tony Award-winning hit Broadway musical Pippin have announced full casting and rehearsals begin today for the U.S. national tour which launches on September 6, 2014 at The Buell Theatre. Lucie Arnaz joins the cast in the role of Pippin's trapeze-flying grandmother, Berthe. This all-new production of Roger O. Hirson and Stephen Schwartz's Pippin is directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus, features choreography by Tony Award nominee Chet Walker in the style of Bob Fosse and circus creation by Gypsy Snider of the Montreal-based circus company Les 7 doigts de la main (also known as 7 Fingers). As they close in on the August 1st fundraising deadline, and having reached 57% of the $250,000 goal, Cabrillo Music Theatre enthusiastically announces that local businessman/developer John Notter has partnered with the Conrad Hilton Foundation to pledge $30,000 to the fundraising drive. At the same time, Notter and the Foundation ask the community to do the same, and now the race is on to reach the deadline in the next eight days. If fundraising and season subscription goals are reached, Cabrillo Music Theatre can move ahead with its 2014-2015 season, featuring MARY POPPINS, MEMPHIS, OKLAHOMA and COMPANY. This summer the Texas Repertory Theatre Company serves up a slice of apple pie and southern charm with PUMP BOYS AND THE DINETTES. Prior to the show, I wasn't really sure what to expect. It certainly sounded like something that had country charm splattered all over it. Turns out, I wasn't too far off.
