West End's Queen musical We Will Rock You will perform its final show today, 31 May 2014, shortly after its 12th anniversary.

The musical WE WILL ROCK YOU, featuring the music of iconic rock band Queen, will take its final curtain call on May 31st at the West End's Dominion Theatre. However WhatsOnStage reports that a follow-up to the production may be in the works.

The worldwide smash hit 'rock theatrical,' Queen and Ben Elton's We Will Rock You, built around 24 of Queen's biggest hits, opens at the Music Hall at Fair Park tonight, March 4, 2014. With producers of the much anticipated North American touring production having announced their full casting this past week in readiness for an autumn opening, the London mother ship production of Queen and Ben Elton's We Will Rock You today produced its own casting news, revealing details of a revamped cast for 2013/ 2014.

While We Will Rock You musical creators Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor and writer Ben Elton spend time in New York with co-producer Robert de Niro for final cast and band auditions for the show's North American national tour which will open in October in Baltimore, the London production celebrates its 11th birthday tomorrow evening, May 14.

According to Brian May's website Brian's Soapbox, he has given the go-ahead for a US tour of We Will Rock You, with a stop in New York City, possibly on Broadway. The show is already set for a world tour, beginning in the UK, this year.

According to the BBC, Queen frontman Freddie Mercury will be making a return to the stage the West End production of WE WILL ROCK YOU- via hologram. Mercury, who passed away in 1991, will appear in an optical illusion for the show's upcoming 10th anniversary. Queen's Brian May told the BBC that the hologram 'is something we've looked at ourselves but I think probably for a show that runs eight shows a week it's not really quite practical.'

In its second season, the Dayton Philharmonic's Rockin' Orchestra Series is playing to sold-out houses at the Schuster Performing Arts Center in Downtown Dayton, Ohio. The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra (DPO) is the first American orchestra to package rock-with-orchestra-based music into a season subscription series.
