ReGroup Theatre's THE SILENT PARTNER Set for The Players Club TodayReGroup Theatre's THE SILENT PARTNER Set for The Players Club Today
by BWW News Desk - Jul 15, 2013

Clifford Odets' The Silent Partner, was originally written for production by The Group Theatre, but the company sadly closed its doors before the play was ever mounted. It was never published, and other than a 1972 Lee Strasberg helmed workshop at the Actors Studio, the play has been unseen for 75 years causing it to be the source of much speculation. Often referred to as a long-form version of Waiting For Lefty as it deals with striking workers, it is an entirely original and savagely poetic 3-Act tale that only Odets could tell. (more...)

BWW Reviews: Street Corner Arts Stages Powerful and Moving WAITING FOR LEFTYBWW Reviews: Street Corner Arts Stages Powerful and Moving WAITING FOR LEFTY
by Frank Benge - Dec 8, 2014

Waiting For Lefty was written in 1935 by Clifford Odets. The play is, and was written as, an immersive piece of theatre. It is, ostensibly, a meeting of cab drivers who are gathering to plan a strike. As an audience member, you become a part of that meeting. While the meeting is going on, we are exposed to a series of scenes which are related to the meeting in that they delve into the lives of the characters to frame what brought them to this meeting. What is striking is that nearly 80 years later, Waiting For Lefty still resonates and has something to say to modern audiences… especially those who struggle to make ends meet on a daily basis.
