Rooftop Films Announces Lineup for 20th Annual Summer Series

When Rooftop Films began 20 summers ago on the roof of a tenement building in the Lower East Side it was a single evening of short films. 19 years later the organization has grown tremendously- hosting over 50 extraordinary events every summer, with live music and after-parties all across NYC- but they still strive to champion emerging in the short film community, and still believe that the medium is ripe for experimentation and opportunity. That smile was perfectly embodied by soloist Jeffrey Cirio, making a splendid debut as Colas in the opening performance of this life affirming ballet. BWW Review: Seize the Stage! Rousing NEWSIES Leaps Over to OC's Segerstrom Center

Now after more than a year, NEWSIES' North American First National Tour is nearing its conclusion, finally stopping at Orange County's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa through May 29 (the musical will motor down to San Diego the following week). After seeing the original Broadway production in NYC and then seeing its Los Angeles debut at the Pantages Theatre last year, experiencing this exuberant, high-energy, smile-inducing crowd-pleaser again here in my own home turf felt like a special gift. NEWSIES is a fun, uplifting night at the theater... and continues to be in subsequent, multiple viewings. With its winning combination of incredibly acrobatic dancing, family-friendly comedy, engaging story, awesome singing, and dazzling showmanship, there is a lot to love with this show---whether you're 5 or 95. Heck, it certainly made a #Fansie out of me. (more...)

3rd Annual Wild West Comedy Festival Wraps in Nashville

This past week, Outback Concerts and Wild West Productions brought the biggest and brightest stars, as well as the hottest and most talked about up-and-comers, in comedy to Nashville. The third annual event, which is presented by Bud Light in association with Netflix and powered by SiriusXM, drew thousands of comedy fans to its over 30 shows at venues across Music City, including Ryman Auditorium, War Memorial Auditorium, TPAC's James K. Birmingham Royal Ballet announces the 2016/2017 Birmingham Hippodrome season, the 27th season at its home theatre in the Midlands. The season will celebrate the Company's varied repertory, from the spectacular new The Tempest in the autumn through to the return of The Nutcracker for Christmas and Coppelia in the summer of 2017.
