In response to growing visitor demand, Historic Hudson Valley has announced the expansion of tours at three of Westchester County's iconic historic sites: Washington Irving's Sunnyside, Philipsburg Manor, and Union Church at Pocantico Hills. Starting July 20, these locations will extend operations to provide additional access to locals and tourists alike, now open weekly from Thursdays through Sundays.

French movie lovers get ready as TV5MONDE USA is kicking off its summer lineup with a variety of powerful crime dramas! The lineup includes: Le viol(starring César award-winning actress Romane Bohringer and Oscar award-winning actor Sam Karmann), Les crimes silencieux (starring César nominated actors Richard Berry and Valérie Kaprisky) and Crime dans les alpilles (starring César nominated actress Florence Pernel). Boxcar Theatre has announced that it has signed a ten-year lease on a property at the confluence of San Francisco's Chinatown and North Beach neighborhoods. Located at 644 Broadway, the 9050 sq. ft. space is almost three times the size of its former home in the Tenderloin. Boxcar plans to reopen The Speakeasy in late 2015 or early 2016 with three to four shows per week and an array of neo-vaudeville acts on other nights.

Orange County, Calif.—Dec. 3, 2013—One of Russia's most fascinating and complex composers—Dmitri Shostakovich—goes under the magnifying glass when Pacific Symphony partners with Chapman University's Global Arts Program to present “Decoding Shostakovich,” a festival dedicated to the iconic composer, whose life unfolded under the Soviet system. There are myriad reasons for a festival devoted to this fascinating man, beginning with the tremendous impact he had on classical music in Russia and beyond. Through classical concerts and a wide array of presentations (discussions, film, dance, lecture, piano recital, theater, symposium, book club and master classes), “Decoding Shostakovich” probes deeply into the man to reveal the composer's relationship to his home country, its culture and politics and the effects these had on his music.
