Frustrated in his search for knowledge and arrogant in his desires, he makes a deal with the Devil (Lexie Helgerson) and in exchange for his soul, is granted twenty-five years with Lucifer's demon Mephistopheles (Suzan Crowley) by his side, serving him in any way he chooses. BWW Reviews: Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Presents KING LEAR at the Broad Stage in Santa MonicaBWW Reviews: Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Presents KING LEAR at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica
by Shari Barrett - Nov 6, 2014

The several intertwined stories about characters motivated by The Seven Deadly Sins and shocking scenes of excessive cruelty and suffering (especially the violent blinding of Gloucester, Lear's descent into madness, the raging storm, and the tragic death of Cordelia), make KING LEAR a profound exploration of the human condition in all its extremes and complexities. And when well performed by actors who fully comprehend the psyche of their character as well as the meaning of Shakespeare's vocabulary, brilliance happens. (more...)

The company creates productions of classics and new pieces that are daring and visceral—productions that manifest the emotional grandeur and theatrical power of opera with minimal means.
