BWW Review: Ross Petty's CINDERELLA is Good Ol' Fashioned Family EntertainmentBWW Review: Ross Petty's CINDERELLA is Good Ol' Fashioned Family Entertainment
by Alan Henry - Nov 29, 2014

Ross Petty's annual pantomime has become, if anything, a tradition and staple in Toronto of the holiday season. As downtown storefronts are transformed from 'pumpkin spice' to 'naughty or nice,' the cast and creative team at Ross Petty Productions work on their whimsical, magical, and hilarious takes on traditional children's stories. Under the masterful musical direction of John McDaniel, this quintessential quartet delivered well beyond my already high expectations and to say the evening was "memorable" would be nothing short of an understatement. by David Clarke - Dec 8, 2014

Having seen Mary Testa in a cabaret concert in Houston, I feel I had an idea of what to expect from her and Michael Starobin's album HAVE FAITH. While I expected it to be eccentrically eclectic and haunting, nothing could have prepared me for how it was beautifully hypnotizing and simultaneously so unlike anything I've ever heard before. The unique album utilizes well-known pop songs (hits from The Beach Boys to Alanis Morissette) and songs written by William Finn and Michael John LaChiusa to explore thoughts on faith and doubt in ways that are equally alluring and unexpected. SPOILER ALERT! Recap and Review: Major Superstars Shine as THE VOICE Crowns Season 7 Champion!SPOILER ALERT! Recap and Review: Major Superstars Shine as THE VOICE Crowns Season 7 Champion!
by Matt Tamanini - Dec 16, 2014

Today I had a lengthy Twitter discussion with a few passionate fans of THE VOICE about the increasingly complicated impact of iTunes purchases on the crowning of a champion. Unlike in previous weeks, there is no iTunes x10 bonus tonight, but the contestants will get cumulative credit for every song sold on iTunes starting with Top 12 week. I wanted to link to the official voting rules on NBC's website, but mysteriously they have taken it down since this morning; adding even more full to the conspiracy fire that always surrounds the finales of competition reality shows. If you want to try and prognosticate based on iTunes rankings from around the end of voting, PopVortex has a good breakdown. (more...)
