Before a word is spoken, our show starts on our sturdy pirate ship as a raging storm throws us from one side of the "boat" to the other. At this point in our process, the tumultuous weather looks a lot like a group of guys rolling around on the floor, but that's nothing a of week of rehearsal and some great lighting can't fix! From this point forward, we arrre in "go" mode until we open. Yesterday was our last real day off until opening night and it sort of feels like we arrre actually heading into a crazy storm of our own. (more...)

Perhaps Kander and Ebb's best musical, apart from Chicago, Cabaret has it all: a fine book, deliciously diverse characters, dynamite music and a subtext that will not quit. The subtext being: either compromise or get out if you value your life, the latter, to be sure, the wiser. This is Berlin, circa 1929/30, before Hitler, just as Nazi pressure hits the fan. Now a national tour based on Roundabout Theatre's 2013 revival docks at the Pantages for a mere 3 weeks with a glorious cast headed by Randy Harrison in a big, broad and devilishly fun performance as the Emcee. Liverpool's International Samba Festival Was the Hit of the Summer!

Thousands of people came from far and wide to enjoy Liverpool's International Samba Festival on Saturday, July 16th. There was a jubilant carnival atmosphere in the city as crowds lined the streets to watch the spectacular Brazilica Carnival Parade which made its way from Abercromby Square, along Hope Street, Hardman Street, Bold Street, and Church Street, before finishing at the Whitechapel Junction. Over 750 people took part in the incredible Parade from the UK, Brazil, Europe and even as far as Singapore, filling the streets of Liverpool with colour, music and a sensational carnival atmosphere.  (more...)

Abrons Arts Center Sets 2016-17 Season

On February 12, 1915, the Abrons Arts Center's Henry Street Settlement Playhouse opened its doors on the Lower East Side. Since that day, it has remained a vital cultural resource, providing audiences with artistically bold work while offering artists opportunities to dynamically grow. Since becoming Artistic Director in 2006, Jay Wegman has done much more than maintain "one of the last standing locations for avant-garde performance downtown" (The New York Times, 2009). He has created an arts venue that is unique to the city's cultural landscape, presenting an international mix of cutting-edge performing and visual artists, both established and emerging, from across the country and around the world, as well as from New York City.
