The producers of the multi award-winning smash hit Billy Elliot the Musical are delighted to announce that the four boys who will play the title role in the first ever UK and Ireland tour of the iconic musical are Adam Abbou (12 years old from Liverpool),Matthew Lyons (11 years old from Leeds), Haydn May (11 years old from Bath) and Lewis Smallman (12 years old from West Bromwich). The boys were cast following nationwide auditions and after months of intensive rehearsals began alternating in the role following the show's opening earlier in the year.  Billy Elliot the musical opens at The Bristol Hippodrome on Tuesday 25thOctober and runs until Saturday 26th November 2016. Pat Kinevane Returns to Odyssey Theatre with West Coast Premiere of UNDERNEATH

Olivier Award winners Pat Kinevane and Fishamble: The New Play Company return to Odyssey Theatre Ensemble, the company that introduced Los Angeles audiences to the Irish writer/performer's extraordinary Forgotten and Silent, with his third solo work about life lived on the fringes of society. Jim Culleton, artistic director of Dublin's Fishamble and director of both Forgotten and Silent, directs the West Coast premiere of Underneath for a limited run Oct. 14 - Oct. 30. The engagement will also include two performances of Silent, which garnered the 2016 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement following its run at London's Soho Theatre. (more...)

New York Euripides Summer Festival Presents CYCLOPS

The New York Euripides Summer Festival presents the only complete satyr play Cyclops for its 2016 summer season with five, free performances starting July 29 through August 5 This comic dramatization, based on Book IX of Homer's The Odyssey, is the only extant surviving satyr play and depicts Odysseus confronting Polyphemus, one of the cyclopes, on his way back to Ithaca, before escaping from Sicily. Enjoy a fully-staged production of this rarely produced classic, presented by American Thymele Theatre with music by Athan Hilaki, without intermission. Stephen Diacrussi directs this satyric remnant from 425B.C.E. 'Triumph Over Tragedy: The Odyssey of an Academic Physician' is the remarkable new memoir written by William H. Frishman, M.D. At the age of 15, he lost his father following a premature heart attack. Aaron Frishman was on his way home from work when he died suddenly. He never had a chance to say goodbye. Smoking, a poor diet and struggles with poverty, including bankruptcy of his business and loss of his cherished Ford, ultimately led to his untimely death at the age of 46. William Frishman's grandfathers, father and uncles all had heart attacks before the age of 60. Dr. Frishman believes this is what motivated him to explore the origins and potential treatments for heart disease, 'Sadness from a tragedy has a shelf-life, but the grief endures and either expands you and gives you a greater capacity for empathy and achievement, or it diminishes you.'
