CSO's's 2015 HOLIDAY POPS to Feature More Than 300 Performers

The CSO's Holiday Pops, an annual tradition in Columbus since 1983, was conceived by chorus master and conductor Ronald Jenkins who has also led all of its 96 performances. In 2015, Jenkins, the musicians of the Columbus Symphony, and vocalists of the Columbus Symphony Chorus, will be joined by the Columbus Children's Choir, dancers Justin Gibbs and Joanie Evans, children from BalletMet, narrator Steven Crawford, and of course, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, featuring the talents of more than 300 performers in this heartwarming holiday spectacular. Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre has announced its upcoming season and it's a blockbuster by any measure - packed with Broadway hits, family favorites, special holiday performances, and shows for the younger set. Says M. Kitty Getlik, Kelsey's Artistic Director, 'As the college celebrates its 50th anniversary, we have created a lineup worthy of that milestone.' She notes the major Broadway shows on this year's schedule including 'Miss Saigon,' Lin Manuel-Miranda's 'In the Heights,' 'Billy Elliot, The Musical,' and Disney's 'A Little Mermaid.' Rounding out the schedule are comedies, dance and the Kelsey Kids Series, offering six shows for the younger set. PlayFest 2017, the college's - and the state's - very first new play festival for current and former community college students takes place in March. (more...)

Following a successful tour of Alan Ayckbourn's Absent Friends, today London Classic Theatre announces the cast for its production of Waiting for Godot, as part of the company's 15th anniversary season. London Classic Theatre Artistic Director Michael Cabot directs Jonathan Ashley (Pozzo), Peter Cadden (Vladimir), Richard Heap (Estragon), Michael Keane (Lucky) and Sonja Zobel (A Boy). Gelsey Kirkland Ballet's riveting rendition of The Nutcracker delighted at their new space, located on the East River in DUMBO, Brooklyn. A modest theatre gave way to a spectacular production, characterized by lush costumes, awe-inspiring props and polished dancing that frankly, was refreshing in a time when clean, succinct dancing is often severely underrated. BWW Preview: Desert Theatreworks Discusses Its 2016-17 Season

Desert Theatreworks (DTW), Palm Desert's 501(c)(3) community theatre, has received 64 nominations for the Desert Theatre League's 2016 Desert Star awards, the most of any company. Lance and Ron Phillips-Martinez, the spouses who serve as DTW's artistic director and executive director, respectively, sat down with Broadway World to discuss the company's nominations and its upcoming season. The 2016-17 season consists of two comedies, a murder mystery, two musicals, and a holiday revue featuring Frank Sinatra's songs: The Realistic Joneses, A Murder is Announced, Christmas My Way: A Sinatra Holiday Bash, 45 Seconds from Broadway, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Next to Normal.
