Due to popular demand, The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Patrick Willingham) announced today that the critically acclaimed Public Lab production of SORRY will extend one final week to Sunday, December 2. SORRY, written and directed by Richard Nelson, opened on Tuesday, November 6 to unanimously positive reviews and was originally scheduled to close on November 18. Howard Davies will direct Steve Waters' new play TEMPLE, a fictionalised account of the events that took place during the 2011 Occupy demonstration outside St Paul's Cathedral. Simon Russell Beale will return to the Donmar stage to play the Dean having previously starred in The Philanthropist, Twelfth Night and Uncle Vanya (for which he won the 2003 Olivier Award for Best Actor). The Public Theater Adds Richard Nelson Three-Play Cycle to Season

The Public Theater announced today that the world premiere of a new Richard Nelson three-play cycle, THE GABRIELS: Election Year in the Life of One Family, has been added to the 2015-2016 downtown season. Written and directed by Nelson, Play One: HUNGRY will begin previews on Saturday, February 27 and run through, Sunday, March 20, with an official press opening on Friday, March 4, 2016. As with The Apple Family Plays, each play in THE GABRIELS cycle will feature a core acting company and will open on the day it is set and unfold in real time over a couple of hours. The VH Theatrical Development Foundation announces that after an acclaimed Off-Broadway engagement last fall, FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE! (formerly titled THE BRIGHTNESS OF HEAVEN), a new play by best-selling author Laura Pedersen FROM BUFFALO, will open the 2015-2016 Frey Electric Construction Co.  Season at the 710 Main Theatre (formerly Studio Arena Theatre) in Buffalo, New York, with a limited engagement scheduled to play Thursday, September 17 - Sunday, October 4, 2015.  Directed by Ludovica Villar-Hauser, FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE! is set in Buffalo, where Ms. Pedersen was born and raised.  (more...)

Lincoln Center Theater previously announced that Betsy Aidem, Blair Brown, Michael Cerveris, Anthony Cochrane, Lauren Culpepper, Alvin Epstein, Kathryn Erbe, John Glover, Jennifer B. Grace, Katie Kreisler, Stephen Kunken, Haviland Morris, Dale Place, John Procaccino, Gareth Saxe and Alan Schmuckler would be featured in the 18-member cast of its world premiere production of NIKOLAI AND THE OTHERS, a new play by Richard Nelson. The play, which was commissioned by Lincoln Center Theater, will be directed by David Cromer and will begin performances tonight, April 4 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. Howard Davies will direct Steve Waters' new play TEMPLE, a fictionalised account of the events that took place during the 2011 Occupy demonstration outside St Paul's Cathedral. Simon Russell Beale will return to the Donmar stage to play the Dean having previously starred in The Philanthropist, Twelfth Night and Uncle Vanya (for which he won the 2003 Olivier Award for Best Actor).
