BWW Review: WNO's Next Chapter in THE RING: SIEGFRIED
by Roger Catlin - May 9, 2016

In the third installment of the Washington National Opera's mammoth staging of Richard Wagner's The Ring of the Nibelung at the Kennedy Center, a new Brunnhilde awakens, Fafner's dragon turns out to be more of a monster truck, and the titular star of the work, Siegfried, turns out to be much more of a jerk than you'd ever want him to be. Alexander Lawrence Pens LEVIATHAN'S RUSE, VOL. 1
by BWW News Desk - May 4, 2016

Leviathan's Ruse, Vol. 1: The Comprehensive Guide to the Battle Between Good and Evil Christian non-fiction / 6' x 9' paperback / perfect bound ISBN: 978-0-9972578-0-9 Ebook ISBN: 978-0-9972578-1-6 404 pp. with 51 illustrations / $16.99 USD Watchman Alexander Publications is pleased to announce the release of 'Leviathan's Ruse, Vol. 1: The Comprehensive Guide to the Battle Between Good and Evil,' a groundbreaking exposé of The Dragon and his kingdom. 'My goal is to inoculate the people of God against the powerful deception of the last days,' stated the author. Today, there is a grand push towards transhumanism, pluralism, and a one-world government. Alexander Lawrence believes that fallen angelic forces are responsible, and he won't let them go unchallenged. Leviathan's Ruse reveals the ways in which fallen angels have misled human beings throughout history, and how events initiated in the distant past are feeding into Satan's end-game. The book helps readers to connect the dots between ancient mythologies, paranormal activities, mystery religions, occult societies, and more. Along the way, Mr. Lawrence offers rebuttals to commonly-held ideas about biblical end-time prophecies and characters (e.g., the meaning of the beasts seen by the prophet Daniel, and the identity of Lucifer). Available at major online book retailers and at LeviathansRuse.com. About The Author Alexander Lawrence is a husband, father, and Messianic who makes computer graphics for a living. He graduated with a B.A. from Texas A&M University in 2004. He teaches and leads worship at Messiah Echad congregation in Georgetown, Texas. Rabbi Jonathan Dade says of Alexander, 'He truly is a genuine, practical, scripturally-minded guy with a lot of wisdom.' For more about the author, see WatchmanAlexander.com. BWW Recap: 'Blood of My Blood' Returns on GAME OF THRONES
by Jessica Naftaly - May 30, 2016

We're over halfway done with this season of Game of Thrones, and last night's episode entitled “Blood of My Blood” should have probably been called “Home” (the title of Episode 2), considering more characters were reconnected with their past, began to discern who they are at the core versus who they are expected to be, as well as some literally returning home. However, we did get our mandatory dragon shot! Finally we found out where Summer's CGI budget went! Subsequently, we did get a lot of general plot development this week! Yay! Things happened! Arya was able to move past her stick training, Sam and Gilly got to their destination, we saw the return of two long gone uncles, and Jaime was forced out of the Kingsguard and into his book location! BWW Blog: Eliza Porsella - That's a Wrap!
by Guest Blogger: Elizabeth Porsella - Jun 29, 2016

The two performances of Shrek are over, I graduated from elementary school and now I'm off for the summer.   I have so many great memories of 5th grade but I think being a part of the play was the high point of my school year.  Some of the rehearsals seemed long but the school year really seemed to fly by once I was cast in Shrek.  It's weird to think that it's over, that I'll be in middle school in September.  I hope I get to do a play there as well. BWW Recap: THRONES Brings Death and Destruction in 'The Battle of the Bastards'
by Jessica Naftaly - Jun 20, 2016

We're just one episode away from the final episode of Season 6 of Game of Thrones and the penultimate episode entitled “The Battle of the Bastards” premiered last night. Despite what the promos had us believe, we got not one, but two battles this episode, and it was certainly an episode jam packed with death, gore, and violence. All three things we're quite used to on Thrones! Episode 9 of this show has become known amongst its viewers and creators as the big one. It's usually the episode where everything comes to fruition, the climax of the series that has everyone cheering and applauding the show immediately after for its genius and shock. Last year we had “Hardhome,” which was a direct departure from the books and gave us death and destruction, only to have the Night King lift his arms and raised the dead. However, this episode, despite being totally epic in scale and stunning visually, lacked a certain complexity, integrity, and dimensionality that made episodes like “Blackwater” back in Season 2 so rich and exciting. “The Battle of the Bastards” was entertaining and a feat of direction, cinematography, and scale, for sure, but its predictability, cluttered circumstance, and ever so confusing character choices and motivations made the episode suffer as a whole.  (more...)

The Dragon Theatre Presents the Existential Classic Waiting For Godot
by BWW News Desk - Aug 16, 2016

Voted 'the most significant English language play of the 20th century" in a survey of playwrights, Waiting for Godot is considered a masterpiece of surrealist existentialism. Two wandering vagabonds, Vladimir and Estragon, wait by a lonely tree, to meet up with Mr. Godot, an enigmatic figure in a world where time, place and memory are blurred and meaning is where you find it. The men hope that Godot will change their lives for the better. Instead, two eccentric travelers arrive, one man on the end of the other's rope. The results are both surprisingly funny and somehow touching, and the trip will bend your brain in this vigorous conception of Samuel Beckett's classic. (more...)
