RETURN ENGAGEMENT:  After two sold-out performances earlier this year, Nancy Hays (as Judy Garland) and Michelle Lauto (as Liza Minnelli) are bringing "JUDY & LIZA - ONCE IN A LIFETIME" back to the Uptown Underground on Sunday, October 9th at 7 p.m., in an expanded version with even more songs. This cabaret show is a re-creation of the famed concert presented by the legendary mother-daughter duo of Judy Garland and an 18-year-old Liza Minnelli in 1964 at the London Palladium.  This tribute features the classic songs, costumes, dialogue and dance steps to help the audience re-live the historic occasion, with solos like "The Man That Got Away", "Just in Time" and "Gypsy in My Soul" and duets like "Chicago" and "Get Happy/Happy Days", backed by a jazz combo with orchestral arrangements by Robert Ollis (music director and pianist). Theo Ubique Announces 2016-17 Season

Theo Ubique's upcoming season, announced today by Artistic Director Fred Anzevino (left), will include four productions of critically acclaimed works that are likely to be new to most Chicago audiences. The season will begin on September 23rd with the Chicago premiere of a 2015 Drama Desk nominee for Outstanding Musical - the off-Broadway hit Fly by Night, to be directed by Anzevino with music direction by Jeremy Ramey (below left). It will be followed in December by the Chicago premiere of Honky Tonk Angels - a book musical by Always... Patsy Cline writer Ted Swindley incorporating some of country music's greatest hits into a story of three women who form a country music singing trio. (more...)

MCCC's Kelsey Theatre Announces 2016-17 Season

Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre has announced its upcoming season and it's a blockbuster by any measure - packed with Broadway hits, family favorites, special holiday performances, and shows for the younger set. Says M. Kitty Getlik, Kelsey's Artistic Director, 'As the college celebrates its 50th anniversary, we have created a lineup worthy of that milestone.' She notes the major Broadway shows on this year's schedule including 'Miss Saigon,' Lin Manuel-Miranda's 'In the Heights,' 'Billy Elliot, The Musical,' and Disney's 'A Little Mermaid.' Rounding out the schedule are comedies, dance and the Kelsey Kids Series, offering six shows for the younger set. In her latest interview with 60 Minutes, Streisand discusses how Jackman's voice was the starting point for the album's core concept: creating 'mini scenes' through dialogue and duets with film stars. On the album, Streisand and Jackman sing the previously unproduced 'Any Moment Now' by the late, celebrated composer Marvin Hamlisch.
