In the style of other jukebox musicals like Forever Plaid, Mamma Mia, and Jersey Boys, that use an artist's or particular decade's music to tell a story, Suds sets a comedy in the world of the greatest musical hits of the 1960's. The conspiracy theory I have been dreading for weeks has come on full throttle in tonight's episode of MADAM SECRETARY. I have been slowly warming to this plotline recently, but will be very disappointed if it comes back to bite me in the behind if the writing goes downhill quick. The scene starts out with the Secretary, husband Henry, and old CIA spy buddy Isabel, listening to the voice recording from the cockpit of the previous Secretary's downed plane, and looking over the NTSB records and report of the crash that killed him. It was very exciting to see Tony Award winning, Brian Stokes Mitchell, play former Secretary Marsh in the flashback scene of the plane crash. (more...)

Raue Center for the Arts in association with Williams Street Repertory has announced that it will be mounting the Chicago Premiere of " Suds: The Rockin' 60's Musical " This is to be the first of three Chicago premieres Raue Center's in-house company will be putting up in its 2014/2015 Season. Suds will run through July, opening on July 11. Complete run dates are as follows: July 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26 at 8p and July 13, 19 and 27 at 3p. (more...)
