Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for Alan Ayckbourn's science fiction comedy Communicating Doors. Eleven plays penned by Alan Ayckbourn have been produced by the Alley, including the American premiere of Henceforward, directed by Ayckbourn, in 1987 and House & Garden in 2002. Alan Ayckbourn has been inducted into the American Theatre's Hall of Fame, received the 2010 Critics' Circle Award for Services to the Arts, became the first British playwright to receive both Olivier and Tony Special Lifetime Achievement Awards and was knighted in 1997 for services to the theatre. Lincoln Center Theater will soon present Act One, a play written and directed by James Lapine from the autobiography by Moss Hart. The production is scheduled to begin previews Thursday, March 20 and open on Thursday, April 17 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). The play will feature Bill Army, Will Brill, Laurel Casillo, Chuck Cooper, Steven Kaplan, Will LeBow, Mimi Lieber, Charlotte Maier, Andrea Martin, Deborah Offner, Matthew Saldivar, Matthew Schechter, Bob Stillman,Amy Warren, Santino Fontana and Tony Shalhoub. Stage Door Players' MIRACLE ON SOUTH DIVISION STREET Opens 3/21

Stage Door PLAYERS, Dunwoody's own professional theatre company, continues its 40th Anniversary Season with Miracle on South Division Street by Tom Dudzick, directed by Dina Shadwell. The show opens on Friday, March 21, 8pm curtain, and runs until April 13. The cast features mother-son duo Susan Shalhoub Larkin and Tony Larkin (on stage together for the first time!), Kara Cantrell, and Kelly Criss (who just directed SDP's On Golden Pond). Sara Cooper, Zach Redler & Shaina Taub Receive American Theatre Wing's 2014 Jonathan Larson Grants

The American Theatre Wing announced today that the recipients of the 2014 Jonathan Larson Grants are writing team Sara Cooper (lyricist/bookwriter) & Zach Redler (composer), receiving $12,500 and the Running Deer Residency; and Shaina Taub (composer/lyricist), receiving $12,500. The prestigious grants, totaling $15,000 more than last year's grants, will be presented on Monday, April 7, 2014 at a private event at the WNYC Greene Space. BULLETS OVER BROADWAY Begins Previews at St. James Theatre Tonight; Meet the Cast!

While emerald green confetti were slowly falling from midair and soap bubbles floated right near the Stage Door at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, photographer Jude Ng and videographer JM Ballaran, captured on their cameras on closing night, Sunday, March 9, a large crowd of Filipino fans of WICKED singing in unison one of most famous duets from the musical, 'For Good.' For the fans, it was their 'musical' way of showing how grateful they were for the Australasian touring cast, led by Jemma Rix (Elphaba), Suzie Mathers (Glinda), Steve Danielsen (Fiyero), Emily Cascarino (Nessarose), and Edward Grey (Boq), who starred in the sensational seven-week run of WICKED in Manila. Today, we're featuring Ted Wass circa 1981. Wass is best known for his roles as Danny Dallas on the series Soap (1977-1981) and as Nick Russo on the NBC sitcom Blossom (1991-1995). Since Blossom ended its run in 1995, Wass has retired from acting and has focused only on directing episodic television. In 1976, Wass made his Broadway debut in the production Grease playing Danny Zuko. (more...)

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that the American Theatre Wing is one of 886 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant.
