Major casting has have been announced for the 2015 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity's Playwrights For A Cause, set to take place at 7:30pm on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the Sheen Center, located at 18 Bleecker Street. The evening, which will benefit the non-profit National Coalition Against Censorship, will showcase world premiere one-act plays by four acclaimed playwrights: Israel Horovitz's Breaking Phillip Glass and Erik Ehn's Her Speech, both directed by Planet Connections Theatre Festivity founder and PFAC Producing Artistic Curator Glory Kadigan; Halley Feiffer's A Play About New Mexico, directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch; and Neil LaBute's Mohammed Gets a Boner, directed by Marco Calvani. Highland Park, New Jersey --- Randy James' all male dance company, 10 Hairy Legs, returns to New York Live Arts for its third consecutive New York Season for four performances June 11 -14.   Continuing to showcase the company's extensive repertory that celebrates and explores the artistry of the male dancer, this season features 2 programs, 6 New York City Premieres, 9 works by 10 Choreographers and Live Musical Accompaniment at all performances. Robert Johnson, Dance Critic noted “…since its formation in 2012, its rapid growth has been astonishing…the diversity of this programming is a treat for audiences…this company has also become a welcome source of choreographic commissions…there aren't many repertory companies yet, but when a group like 10 Hairy Legs performs…the scenery changes and styles switch abruptly. Originally scheduled for January 5, 2015 through January 18, Ghost Quartet is performed by Malloy alongside Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 alums Brittain Ashford, Gelsey Bell and cellist Brent Arnold, and directed by Annie Tippe. Frances Black Project presents, Commedia dell'Artichoke, a bi-monthly show created and performed by Carter Gill and Tommy Russell. Performed in classic commedia dell'arte mask, these two Yale Drama trained actors create a world of characters, such as Pulicinella, Tartaglia and Zanni, who live and work in a pizza shop in New York City. It's a story about following your dreams, being your own boss and the chaos that must ensue. February 22, 23 and 24 at 9:30pm at Artichoke Basille's Pizza, 114 10th Avenue (at 17th Street). The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for George Bernard Shaw's Arms and the Man, joining celebrated director Jessica Stone, who recently made her Globe debut with Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Shaw's romantic comedy, which continues the Globe's 80th Anniversary festivities as part of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration, will run May 9 - June 14, 2015 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run May 9 through 13. Opening night is Thursday, May 14 at 8:00 p.m. (more...)
