Punchdrunk & Emursive to Open New Restaurant 'The Heath' at McKittrick Hotel

London-based Punchdrunk-best known in New York as the creators of Sleep No More-opens its first venture into restaurants with The Heath at The McKittrick Hotel (542 W 27th Street, New York, NY), one of New York's most unique nightlife and entertainment destinations. In collaboration with EMURSIVE (Jonathan Hochwald, Arthur Karpati, and Randy Weiner) and Chef R.L. King, Punchdrunk has crafted a dining experience in the spirit of Sleep No More to compliment Chef King's menu, which is a modern take on classic American and British fare. Those dining at The Heath can therefore expect hearty cuisine with an ambiance-both on the plate and in the room-as only Punchdrunk could imagine. Theatre 167 Awarded LGBT Grant from Arch & Bruce Brown Foundation for PIRIRA

Theatre 167 has been awarded a grant from The Arch & Bruce Brown Foundation to support their current production of PIRIRA. Founded in 1994 by the late playwright/filmmaker Arch Brown in memory of his life partner of 28 years, Bruce Allen Brown, the Arch & Bruce Brown Foundation honors outstanding plays and fiction dealing with LGBT history or placing lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender characters in historical settings. Ripe Time, the Brooklyn-based company led by Rachel Dickstein, has garnered acclaim for creating physically charged, visually powerful adaptations of classic and contemporary stories by authors raging from Edith Wharton to Jhumpa Lahiri. Conceived, written and directed by Dickstein, the play The World is Round epitomizes the company's work, creating from Gertrude Stein's book a fable (for grownups and mature children) full of original, live music by Heather Christian and aerial movement choreographed by Nicki Miller. Ripe Time's first new show since its celebrated Mrs. Dalloway adaptation Septimus and Clarissa (2011), The World is Round makes its world premiere April 17 - 30 at BAM Fisher (Fishman Space, 321 Ashland Place, Brooklyn). Photo Flash: Danish String Quartet Gives Pop-Up Performance at Manderley Bar

Last night the Danish String Quartet, the hottest young classical music group, were welcomed to New York in preparation for their upcoming Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center concerts this Sunday at Alice Tully Hall and Monday at the Rose Studio, the Danish String Quartet enjoyed a night on the town. They began the evening by attending Broadway's After Midnight, featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center All Stars. Following the performance, they went backstage to congratulate the orchestra on their performance before heading to the McKittrick Hotel. They got to experience the end of Sleep No More before their pop-up performance at the Manderley Bar, where they played a brief 15-minute set of Beethoven quartets and Scandinavian folk songs.
