Six Characters in Search of an Author 1922

A young woman in despair returns to Rome with little more than her suitcase - and a dark secret. Vulnerable and with a past, she encounters several men who push her to edge. Luigi Pirandello and his 'Naked' heroine open up the debate about gender power dynamics amidst the powerful social and cultural mores with which the characters must contend.

Commissioned by the Finborough Theatre from Cerberus Theatre, the UK premiere and the English world premiere of controversial German playwright Rolf Hochhuth's Sommer 14 - A Dance of Death in a brand new translation opens at the Finborough Theatre for a four week limited season on Tuesday, 5 August 2014 (Press Night: Thursday, 7 August at 7.30pm).

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will host 22 theatrical offerings from 20 different countries during WORLD STAGES: International Theater Festival 2014 that will run for three weeks March 10-30, 2014 throughout the Center. From Olivier and Tony Award-winning puppetry to innovative perspectives on old classics, a diverse showcase of theatrical expression will be represented by countries spanning the globe including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, England, France, Iceland, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Pakistan, Palestine, Scotland, South Africa, Sudan, Syria, and the United States.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre and the University of Massachusetts Lowell announced yesterday - which would have been Jack Kerouac's 90th birthday - they will present the world premiere of the Lowell native and literary icon's only full-length play, "Beat Generation," in a staged reading for eight performances only.

The NYC400 is the first-ever list of New York City's ultimate movers and shakers since the City's founding?from politics, the arts, business, sports, science, and entertainment.

Celebrated playwrights Eugene O'Neill, Eugene Ionesco, and Anton Chekhov will be the focus of Palm Beach Dramaworks' 2nd annual 'Master Playwright Series,' beginning October 27th (7PM) and running through June 2nd at their intimate downtown theatre (322 Banyan Boulevard.) Sponsored by Nancy and Jay Parker, 'The Master Playwright Series' is scheduled in three segments and will devote several evenings to each playwright. Scenes from the author's plays as well as full staged readings will be presented including: 'The Hairy Ape' by Eugene O'Neill, 'The Bald Soprano' by Eugene Ionesco and 'Uncle Vanya' by Anton Chekhov. In addition to the readings, the evenings will invite audience participation, discussion and an overview of the work and themes.
