The Kansas City Ballet Announces New Artistic Staff and Company Members

Kansas City Ballet Artistic Director Devon Carney today announced the appointment of three new members of the artistic staff: Grace Holmes as the new Director of Kansas City Ballet School, Kristi Capps as the new Ballet Master and Anthony Krutzkamp as newly created position of Manager of KCB II. Carney also announced eleven new members of the Company, increasing the Company from 28 to 29 members for the 2014-2015 season. He also announced the appointment of four new KCB II dancers, which stands at six members. Carney also announced the creation of a Trainee Program with five students, two selected from Kansas City Ballet School. (more...)

Roku Sets New TV Streaming Milestones

In addition to the growth in adoption of streaming players, consumers are showing a clear preference for the streaming players they use most. In a recent study1, consumers were asked how often their household uses a device to stream video to the TV. Roku is the most popular choice among streaming players accounting for an aggregate 37 million hours of video streamed per week compared to Apple TV at 15 million hours, Chromecast at 12 million hours and Amazon Fire TV at six million hours. In addition, when consumers were asked how likely they are to refer a friend to a device, Roku was the leading choice with a Net Promoter Score of 46, followed by Apple TV at 30, Chromecast at 23 and Amazon Fire TV at 15. Rossen Milanov Named Music Director of Columbus Symphony

The Columbus Symphony today announced the selection of Rossen Milanov as the next Columbus Symphony Music Director. The 49-year-old Bulgarian native has been contracted to lead the CSO for four years beginning with the 2015-16 season. Until then, Milanov will be recognized as Music Director Designee, and will lead two CSO programs in the 2014-15 season-Organ Symphony (January 30 & 31) and Bolero & Percussion (March 20 & 21). Peter Frampton's HUMMINGBIRD IN A BOX Set for June 23

Hummingbird in a Box, the latest work from legendary musician Peter Frampton, will be released June 23 via RED Distribution. The new music was inspired by the Cincinnati Ballet, featuring seven original guitar pieces in Frampton's virtuosic stylings. Frampton composed all songs on the mini-album along with Gordon Kennedy, who also co-produced the recording. Peter Martins, Ballet Master in Chief of New York City Ballet, announced today that choreographer and NYCB Soloist Justin Peck has been named the Company's Resident Choreographer, effective immediately. In this new capacity Peck will create two world premiere ballets for NYCB each year, in addition to continuing to dance with the Company.
