WINNER TAKE NONE by Greg Comer Now AvailableWINNER TAKE NONE by Greg Comer Now Available
by BWW News Desk - May 8, 2015

Barking Rain Press, a non-profit fiction publisher, announced the paperback and eBook release of the rib-tickling YA historical novel 'Winner Take None' by Placitas, New Mexico author Greg Comer. 'Winner Take None' is Mr. Comer's first published novel. Can a 14-year-old orphan out-con a heartless bunch of rustlers, hustlers and railroad thugs? When Deuter Seebea loses his family and only friend on the way to Oregon in 1879, he has no place to go, and nobody to turn to. He flees his friend's murderer and ends up in Railstop, a shantytown in Montana Territory that's populated by ne'er-do-wells, shady ladies-and a maniacal cat named MaryBelle. Deuter quickly learns the hard way that if he wants something done, he'll have to do it himself-and watch his own back. He soon discovers that the conniving residents built Railstop directly in the path of the approaching FI&R Railroad line for the sole purpose of extorting a windfall settlement. When the payoff finally comes, however, it's every man, woman, and cat for themselves in a ruthless-and hilarious-quest for wealth, glory, and hootch whiskey. Winner take all, or winner take none, Deuter is willing to fight and scheme for his unfair share of the spoils. Ask for 'Winner Take None' at your favorite bookstore, or buy it online at the Barking Rain Press website, Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Powells, Waterstones, and many other Internet bookstores. It is also available as an eBook through Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, iTunes iBooks, Kobo, Content Reserve/Overdrive, the Barking Rain Press website and many other outlets worldwide. Interested readers can preview the first four chapters of 'Winner Take None' for free by visiting the Barking Rain Press website at barkingrainpress.org. New eBook, 'Damage Limitation: A Detective Inspector White Caper' by Jack Everett & David Coles is ReleasedNew eBook, 'Damage Limitation: A Detective Inspector White Caper' by Jack Everett & David Coles is Released
by BWW News Desk - May 6, 2015

Barking Rain Press, a non-profit fiction publisher, announced the paperback and eBook release of 'Damage Limitation: A Detective Inspector White Caper,' the second book in the D.I. White Mysteries series from UK authors Jack Everett and David Coles. The authors have written books together, including 'The Diamond Seekers' and 'The Last Free Men.' A third book in the D.I. White Mysteries, 'Damaged Souls,' will be out this fall. The past comes back to haunt Detective Inspector Stewart White again and again in a deadly game of cat-and-mice. Picking up the trail where it left off in 'Damaged Goods,' this riveting crime thriller starts with a bang and never lets up. At the top of White's most-wanted list is a maniacal magician who leaves his victims in locked, sealed rooms with no way in or out. But it seems that the magician has fled the country... yet copycat murders are popping up all over Leeds. So who is really behind these murders - and what does it have to do with the arrest that earned him a promotion? Two years ago, White apprehended a ruthless Midlands underworld drug lord and racketeer, Leroy 'King' Richards. The King swore he would get even with White, and now he's escaped from prison. Is he out planning his vengeance - and what could that possibly have to do with the surprise appearance of the sister of Robert Cleghorn, the crazed CIA operative from his first case as a Detective Inspector? With nothing up his sleeves, and more than his career at stake, will D.I. White's deductive mojo get it all sorted in time? Ask for 'Damage Limitation: A Detective Inspector White Caper' at your favorite bookstore, or buy it online at the Barking Rain Press website, Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Powells, Waterstones, and many other Internet bookstores. BWW Recap: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES Says So long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Good Night to Elena GilbertBWW Recap: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES Says So long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Good Night to Elena Gilbert
by Erin Resnick - May 14, 2015

When news dropped of Nina Dobrev's departure from THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, fans everywhere clamored for answers and solace. Why was she leaving? How would she leave? Would she die? Would a mermaid-unicorn hybrid sire her into the deep underworld? It's always tricky when writing a main character off a television show, especially when said actor has decided to leave on his or her own terms. This week's season finale of TVD, entitled 'I'm Thinking of You All the While,' not only said a final goodbye to Nina Dobrev's Elena Gilbert (and all her doppelgänger counterparts), but Michael Trevino's wolfy Tyler Lockwood as well. And although their goodbyes were permanent, they still left the door wide open for compelling storytelling as the show moves into a new season and brand new territory. (more...)
