Lindsay Bierman, editor in chief of Southern Living magazine, has been elected chancellor of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts by the Board of Governors of the 17-campus University of North Carolina. UNC President Tom Ross placed Bierman's name in nomination April 11 during the board's regular April meeting.Bierman, 48, will assume his new duties August 1, succeeding James Moeser, who has served as interim chancellor since John Mauceri stepped down from the post last June. Friday night, April 11th, Kevin James Doyle surprised his co-star Margaret Copeland by announced her impending engagement before the sold-out audience at Off-Broadway's comedy smash, HOW TO BE A NEW YORKER. During the curtain call, Kevin hushed the crowd (which included former New York Governor George Pataki!) and revealed Margaret's recent engagement to Colin Hunter, CEO of Alton Lane Custom Clothing. Although Margaret had only shared the big news with her immediate family at this point, she rolled with the punches like a true New Yorker and brought Colin on stage to ecstatic cheers from the audience and a standing ovation. The show opens June 24, 2014 and runs through October 13, 2014 in Regenstein Hall. A collaborative effort between three museums, the exhibition will make its final stop at the Art Institute following its premiere at The Museum of Modern Art in New York on September 28, 2013 and its current run at the Menil Collection, Houston. On Wednesday, April 16, 2014, the captivating acro-cabaret variety show, ABSINTHE, celebrated its third anniversary at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Following a full standing ovation during the show's finale, ABSINTHE's eccentric producer - The Gazillionaire - took the stage to address the crowd, expressing gratitude for the community's ongoing support of the show. At the conclusion of his speech, the company was presented with a commemorative Spiegeltent-shaped cake onstage featuring The Gazillionaire, his zany assistant Penny Pibbets and her infamous sock puppets, and ABSINTHE's 'Green Fairy' Melody Sweets.
