Aurora Theatre Company presents the Bay Area Premiere of Pulitzer Prize finalist (Freedomland) Amy Freed's THE MONSTER-BUILDER. Art Manke, who directed the World Premiere of THE MONSTER-BUILDER at Portland's Artists Repertory Theatre in 2014, makes his Aurora directing debut with this viciously funny comedy featuring Danny Scheie (The Mystery of Irma Vep), Rod Knapp (The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity), Nancy Carlin (Hysteria), Thomas Gorrebeeck (The Eccentricities of a Nightingale), Tracy Hazas, and Sierra Jolene. Casting is announced today for Around the World in 80 Days, which will run at the St. James Theatre from 26 November 2015 to 17 January 2016, with press night on 3 December 2015. Leading the cast in the role of Phileas Fogg will be Robert Portal, who, in challenges reminiscent of Fogg's own quest, has rowed 3000 miles across the Atlantic in The Talisker Whisky Challenge and partaken in the Marathon des Sables, running over 150 miles of the Sahara Desert in six days, raising money for charity in both instances. A rare revival of Rocket to the Moon, the 1938 play by Clifford Odets (AWAKE AND SING, GOLDEN BOY), starring Ned Eisenberg, starts performances tonight at the Theatre at St. Clement's. Directed by Obie and Lucille Lortel Award winner Dan Wackerman (Counsellor-at-Law), Rocket to the Moon will play a limited engagement, opening Monday, February 23rd.
