Bellydance Superstars to Perform DANZARA at Harris Center, 10/14

Hailed as the next big dance phenomenon since Riverdance, the Belly Dance Superstars present a distinctive fusion of Tribal, Egyptian, and Cabaret dance, transporting the audience to a distant time and place while ushering this ancient art form into the present. The brainchild of Miles Copeland, former manager of Sting and The Police, over half a million people saw them for the first time on the 2003 Lollapalooza tour. Lisa Kelly of Dublin, Ireland, who is a recording artist, singer and actor, will join the Chorale on stage at their December 8, 3:00 pm concert. On Sunday March 9, Spirit of Ireland lit up Morgan Auditorium at the University of La Verne with Michael Ryan and seven other electric musicians onstage, as well as lovely singer Cassie Murphy and three award-winning Irish dancers including Caterina Coyne from Riverdance. Part of a monthly program from the University's music department entitled Sundays at the Morgan, the evening was introduced by the interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Dr. Felicia Beardsley and turned out to be a real pre-St. Patrick's Day treat for the packed house. Decca/Universal Music Classics announce the digital release of the Cast Recording of Heartbeat of Home, available March 4th on iTunes and all Digital Partners. Having made its North American premiere this past January at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre, in the coming months the international tour will play engagements in Chicago, Detroit and Boston. Ravinia's 2014 season, dubbed 'Summer of Love/Season of Stars,' was announced today by Ravinia President and CEO Welz Kauffman. Brimming with talent and romance, the festival's 2014 schedule brings some the biggest names in the world of music as well as repertoire that explores the theme of great love in its various manifestations. No fewer than three musical incarnations of the most famous love story of all time, Romeo and Juliet, will be featured, with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra performing Tchaikovsky's Overture-Fantasy (July 27), a suite from Prokofiev's ballet setting of the story (July 16) and the score of West Side Story as the classic film is shown (July 17-18). In other examples of love, soprano Deborah Voigt describes it as 'Something Wonderful' on a Broadway evening (July 13), the legendary Broadway team of Lerner and Loewe will be celebrated (July 20), and Chanticleer even jabs at the battle of the sexes in an evening titled 'She Said/He Said' (July 6). In fact, love lurks, longs and lingers across genres in most of the more than 130 events that Ravinia will present in 2014, its 110th year and its 78th as the summer residence of the CSO. (more...)

The Centenary Stage Company is once again hosting The New Jersey Civic Youth Ballet's (NJCYB) annual performance of The Nutcracker in the David and Carol Lackland Center December 20th-22nd. For millions of Americans, it wouldn't be Christmas without seeing a production of The Nutcracker. With a cast of over 70 talented dancers from Bergen, Hunterdon, Morris, Sussex and Warren Counties, this ballet based on Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite is unique because of the narration by Hadley DeGregoris who tells the story from the perspective of ten-year-old Clara Stahlbaum.
