Refuge Theatre Project's production of contemporary musical GLORY DAYS may be the only show I ever see that features four male actors drinking Natty Ice onstage. And yet in a musical about four best high school friends who reunite for the first time after their freshman year away at college, this seems like a perfectly natural activity. In moments like this, GLORY DAYS accurately and earnestly captures that in-between space between childhood and adulthood, and the odd feeling when home no longer feels like home but college doesn't yet feel comfortable, either. But like the adolescent characters in the musical, young composer-lyricists Nick Blaemire and James Gardner's musical suffers from some growing pains. (more...)

 Malibu Playhouse presents "The Guys," by Anne Nelson, a reading tribute to firefighters, Friday, Sept. 11 at 8 p.m., starring Ray Abruzzo (SOPRANOS, TRANSPARENT) and Wendie Malick (HOT IN CLEVELAND), directed by Dan Lauria. A portion of the proceeds from this benefit for the Playhouse will be donated to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.  Bravo Media continues to turn up the heat this summer as “Flipping Out” and “Watch What Happens Live” both earn record ratings week and “The Real Housewives of New York City” finale goes out with a sizzle. “Flipping Out” hit a season high among all key demos, delivering 1.4 million total viewers, 771,000 P25-54 and 730,000 P18-49, according to Nielsen Live+3 data.  Episode seven (8/12/15) was the third consecutive season high among all key demos.
