Theatre Royal Stratford East's new season opens with Counting Stars by award-winning playwright and newly appointed Writer in Residence Atiha Sen Gupta. The stage will be transformed into a studio format nightclub installation where you sit on the stage for this funny yet heart-breaking tale directed by Associate Director, Pooja Ghai. Doors will open at 715pm for music and a bar on stage to soak up the atmosphere before the show. The experience will start then. Ghai directs Estella Daniels as Sophie and Lanre Malaolu as Abiodun. New Children's Theatre Launch BEYOND IMAGINATION

Imagine Project, a brand new children's theatre company focusing on gender equity, diversity, and inclusion, will launch its new company with Beyond Imagination, a gala event on Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Colony Theatre Company in Burbank, CA. Imagine Project will be the only union theatre company in Los Angeles dedicated solely to children's programming. The event is free and open to the public but RSVP registration is requiRed at imagineprojectca.com/eventbrite. The evening will feature complimentary food, wine, live entertainment, and an auction. Dress code is "cocktail swanky." Actor Jeffrey Landman, best known as Billy Hill in the Halloween film franchise, will serve as MC for the gala. John Achorn, Karl Ramsey, and Juliette Storace, of the Commedia dell'Arte Studio Zanni, will also perform. The launch event will serve as a fundraiser for the new theatre company. MCL Chicago Artistic Director Alex Garday is proud to present a world premiere comedic musical Ayn Rand in Love as part of the summer series. Ayn Rand in Love tells the story of a young Ayn Rand falling in what one would call love (she would not) with the charismatic Frank O'Connor. Taking some truth from her early days working with MGM Studios, the musical has all the glitz and glamour of an MGM classic of the late 1920s. When Ayn Rand sees something of value to her, she knows how to get it ­ and a job at MGM, Frank O'Connor, and another lover are no exception. Longest Running Broadway Revue to Open at Alhambra

Nominated for eight Tony® Awards, Smokey Joe's Cafe is a musical revue showcasing 39 pop standards from the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's, including rock and roll and rhythm and blues songs written by songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The Original Broadway cast recording, Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs Of Leiber And Stoller, won a Grammy Award in 1996. After a Los Angeles tryout, the revue opened on Broadway in 1995, running for 2,036 performances, making it the longest -running musical revue in Broadway history. It also had a London run in 1996. The show will open at Jacksonville's Alhambra Theatre & Dining on August 3, 2016. (more...)
