Jon Foyt Releases New Historical Fiction Novel, THE MIND OF AN AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY
by BWW News Desk - Oct 1, 2015

Real Men may eat quiche, but do Real Men do Talk Therapy? That is the question Jon Foyt's historical novel asks - and answers - in 'The Mind of an American Revolutionary,' the life and motivations of one of the lesser known - but equally significant - Founding Fathers. Extensively researched, Jon's 12th novel tells the story of Robert Morris, an illegitimate immigrant lad from off the docks of Liverpool, who went on to finance the American Revolution - at times with money out of his own pocket - and then ended up in debtor's prison. Taking place during the Revolutionary years, the novel explores Morris' mind and his emotions, which are relentlessly probed by a persistent mercenary Hessian Major in what today we would call psychological counseling, or talk therapy. As to the economic reasons for the American Revolution, the author seems eminently qualified to write about business motivations and ethics, given his years in the trenches as an American entrepreneur in real estate, radio broadcasting, banking, and publishing following his business school studies at Stanford. Adding his own personal drama with talk therapy creates the authenticity of this novel. Foyt became interested in Robert Morris when he was sent by an Oregon bank to a conference at Rutgers where he learned that Morris was the patron saint of banking for having financed the Revolution and starting the first-ever bank in North America. Book Details: The Mind of an American Revolutionary By Jon Foyt Publisher: Andrew Benzie Books Published: August 21, 2015 ISBN: 978-1941713235 Pages: 254 Genre: Historical Fiction About The Author: At age 83, Foyt, who has completed 60 marathons, lives in the active adult community of Rossmoor in Walnut Creek, California. He holds an AB and MBA from Stanford, and completed the degree work for a masters in historic preservation at the University of Georgia. This is his 12th novel. The Making of America's Musical- 1776: The Story Behind the Story
by Jeffrey Kare - Jul 4, 2016

As America celebrates its 240th Birthday today, let's talk about what is probably one of the greatest musicals ever written, and it only came about 46 years before Hamilton. 1776 dramatizes the story of how John Adams was able to persuade his colleagues to vote for American independence as well as signing the Declaration of Independence. While the musical does dramatize the most important event in American history, the story behind the musical is probably just as interesting. (more...)
