The Il Divo 'A Musical Affair' tour played the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto on Wednesday night, and after the show, BroadwayWorld Toronto Senior Editor Alan Henry was able to go backstage and chat with a BroadwayWorld favorite - Lea Salonga. Salonga is, of course, best known for originating the role of Kim in Miss Saigon (the west end revival had its opening last night), and being the singing voice of two Disney Princesses - Mulan and Jasmine. Families will enjoy a day out at the park featuring bounce houses, rock wall, 2 train rides, tower of terror climbing gym, inflatable soccer field and games, bubble balls, jungle jumparoo activities. Rooftop Films Presents Summer Series Featuring THE SEARCH FOR EMAK BAKIA and LOVE HURTS: ROMANTIC SHORT FILMS, 6/13-6/14

This coming week at the Rooftop Films Summer Series features nights of artistic and emotional intrigue. On Friday the 13th, we will show Oskar Alegria's poetic documentary THE SEARCH FOR EMAK BAKIA, in which he re-traces the steps of renowned surrealist artist and filmmaker Man Ray. Music for the night is from Upstate guitarist Alexander Turnquist, whose mellow yet intricate melodies will have you swayin' in the summer breeze. We'll be down in Gowanus at The Old American Can Factory, so come through and catch a glimpse of the Kentile Floors sign before its rumored demise. Filmmaker Osark Alegria will be with us all the way from Spain for a chat after the film and the general cavorting and merriment that famously follow our shows. The next night, Saturday the 14th, we'll be back at Industry City in Sunset Park for a program of romantic shorts called LOVE HURTS. These shorts are all about the power of love, in all its beautiful, messy, destructive glory. Both live-action and animated shorts from across the world will blow your mind while tugging your heartstrings. We're also excited to bring Brent Hoff's Emotional Arcade to the Rooftop experience. The Emotional Arcade is an interactive installation where participants engage in competitive games using their emotions. (more...)

After 24 hours of rehearsal covering nine days, twelve students, ages 10-14, will perform 'The Dancing Princesses" based on the tale by the Brothers Grimm at The First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, 500 Hughes St., where the company is in residence. The date is Tuesday, July 1, at 8:00 p.m. This marks ELTC's 8th Summer Student Workshop Production, and the past seven years it's been standing room only. Admission is free and families are welcome. Salonga provided the singing voice of two official Disney Princesses: Jasmine in Aladdin (1992), and Fa Mulan in Mulan (1998) and Mulan II (2004).
