Regional Premiere of LITTLE MERMAID Closes Out Circle Players' Season

BWW Review: THE CUNNINGHAM TRUST Unveils a Dusty Extract

For whom is a dance made and why? This question kept coming to me as I watched the unveiling of Merce Cunningham's 'Cunningham Ballett' at Baryshnikov Arts Center on May 18th, 2016. Thought lost to time, a film recording of 'Ballett' was recently unearthed in the archives of Norddeutscher Rundrunk Studio Hamburg. Nearly 50 years after it was recorded, the premiere of Cunningham performing the solo 'Changeling' was shown, followed by a live presentation of the same piece. The question is to what end? As an iconoclast would Cunningham himself not have said, 'Let dead things sleep where they lie?' (more...)

Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre is pleased to welcome back the Mercer County-based theater company Shakespeare '70 for "Hamlet" in June.  Now in its 47th year at Kelsey, the popular company presents Shakespeare's epic tale about the Prince of Denmark, considered by many to be Shakespeare's best play, on Fridays, June 3 and 10 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, June 4 and 11 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, June 5 and 12 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on MCCC's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. San Francisco Ballet to Welcome New Company Members and Promotions!

Effective immediately, San Francisco Ballet announces six promotions, five new Company members, and five apprentices for the 2017 Season. Soloist Carlo Di Lanno has been promoted to principal dancer and Francisco Mungamba, Julia Rowe, Wei Wang, and WanTing Zhao have been promoted to soloist. In addition, former SF Ballet Apprentice Blake Kessler has been appointed a member of the corps de ballet. New members of the Company's corps de ballet include Ludmila Bizalion, Elizabeth Mateer, and Natasha Sheehan; Angelo Greco joins as a soloist and Aaron Robison as a principal dancer. Alexandre Cagnat, Shene Lazarus, Davide Occhipinti, Nathaniel Remez, and Isabella Walsh of the SF Ballet School Trainee Program have been promoted to the rank of apprentice. (more...)
