The Hartt School presents Hartt Dances, featuring Petrushka, a collaboration of the Dance Division and Hartt Orchestra, Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23, at 7:30 PM; and Sunday, November 24, at 2:00 PM, in Lincoln Theater. Hartt's fall mainstage dance concert highlights Stephen Pier's contemporary restaging of Petrushka, features the Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G major, BWV 1049, with choreography by Doris Humphrey; Jose Limon's Symphony for Strings, to the music of William Schuman; and a new creation by Katie Stevinson-Nollet, set to the work of Stephen Montague. On Monday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m., Tony Award winner Roger Rees will return to the Globe for a one-night-only engagement of What You Will, his hysterical (and somewhat historical) 90-minute gallop through the world of Shakespeare. On Today, May 3 at 11:00 a.m., Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein will offer an encore of Thinking Shakespeare Live!, his 90-minute exploration of the language of Shakespeare. This fast-paced, funny, and altogether fascinating program based on Edelstein's book, Thinking Shakespeare: A How-To Guide for Student Actors, Directors, and Anyone Else Who Wants to Feel More Comfortable with the Bard, reveals a performer's approach to Shakespearean language so audiences may easily understand the poetry of the Bard. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced the 2014 winners of Kennedy Center/Stephen Sondheim Inspirational Teacher Awards-a series of annual grants which recognize American teachers by spotlighting their extraordinary impact on the lives of students. Six teachers were selected in 2014 from a pool of hundreds of nominations received through the Kennedy Center's website. Award recipients each receive $10,000 and are showcased, along with the people they inspired, on a website dedicated to inspirational teachers.
