NextStop and Faction of Fools Co-Produce a New Adaptation of PINOCCHIO!, Now thru 3/30

Faction of Fools Theatre Company and NextStop Theatre Company are proud to announce their upcoming co-production of Pinocchio!, a new adaptation of Carlo Collodi's beloved tale about a marionette's journey to become a real boy, running today, March 8-30, 2014 at the Industrial Strength Theatre in Herndon. Written and Directed by Paul Reisman, this production will be the first collaboration by the two DC area theatre companies, as well as Faction's first play specifically geared toward young audiences. Jim Brochu's new musical memoir at Urban Stages Theatre (259 West 30th Street). This limited run will continue through April 6th only. Robert Bartley directs, with musical direction by Carl Haan. Given its short run on Broadway, it's only fair that one would approach SHREK: THE MUSICAL with a little bit of skepticism. But just a few short minutes into this first-rate feast of entertainment at Virginia Repertory Theatre's Children's Theatre at Willow Lawn, audiences will believe in a dancing, singing and wildly amusing SHREK. Virginia Repertory Theatre opens their biggest show in the Children's season, Shrek, The Musical tonight, March 14 at the Children's Theatre of Virginia at Willow Lawn, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive. The show will run through April 27, 2014 and is based on the Academy Award-winning film, Shrek. With book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori, the timeless fairytale of rescued damsel in distress takes many fun and quirky twists as the green and stinky swampland ogre saves Princess Fiona and wins her love. The show lasts about two hours with intermission and is best enjoyed by children and adults alike 5 years and older (more...)

In a land not so far, far away, ShowKids Invitational Theatre (SKIT) brings SHREK THE MUSICAL from the swamp to the stage. Shrek is being presented on Saturday, April 26, at 7:30pm; Sunday, April 27, at 2:00pm; Friday, May 2, at 7:30pm; Saturday, May 3, at 2:00pm and 7:30pm; and Sunday, May 4, at 2:00pm. Children will be entertained in grand style this February with two events at The Ridgefield Playhouse. Pinocchio will be presented today, February 22, at 11 a.m. & 2 p.m. On Friday, February 28, and Today, March 1, at 5 p.m. & 8 p.m., Into The Woods, the iconic musical of Stephen Sondheim, will be presented by The Connecticut Broadway Stage Co. with a cast of 10th to 12th graders. These shows are part of the Pepsi Children's Series. To make the day even more special, Piccolo Pizza & Pasta Jazzeria (24 Prospect St., Ridgefield) will serve a free scoop of gelato the day of the shows when tickets/stubs are presented. (more...)

RLT to Present PINOCCHIO, Begin. 4/18

Today, RLT announced two additional performances of Pinocchio have been added to meet popular demand. Each performance the opening weekend sold out. CVNC's Alan Hall said that the production, "…was an unqualified hit with the theatergoers." Pinocchio now runs through May 4th. (more...)
