The 2016 MAY FESTIVAL to Conclude This Weekend at Music Hall

The 2016 May Festival, which celebrates and concludes Music Director James Conlon's 37-year tenure, ends Friday and Saturday, May 27-28 with grand scale performances at Music Hall. These will be the final performances at Music Hall prior to its closing for renovation. On Friday, May 27 at 8 p.m., Mr. Conlon leads Dvo?ak's deeply personal cantata, Stabat Mater, a work was written during a time of deep grief for the composer following the death of his children. This rarely-performed work is full of symbolism, following a journey of mourning to hope of Paradise. At the invitation of James Levine, Mr. Conlon made his May Festival debut in 1978 conducting Stabat Mater (the following year he began his storied tenure as Music Director). Joining the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and May Festival Chorus will be soloists Julianna DiGiacomo (soprano), Elizabeth DeShong (mezzo-soprano), Anthony Dean Griffey (tenor) and Kristinn Sigmundsson (baritone). Tickets to Birmingham Royal Ballet's 2016-17 Season Now on Sale

Birmingham Royal Ballet announces the 2016/2017 Birmingham Hippodrome season, the 27th season at its home theatre in the Midlands. The season will celebrate the Company's varied repertory, from the spectacular new The Tempest in the autumn through to the return of The Nutcracker for Christmas and Coppelia in the summer of 2017. Over the course of the season, the Company will perform four full-length classic ballets and a programme of shorter works to include the return of Michael Corder's Le Baiser de la fee, John Cranko's Pineapple Poll and a brand new ballet from Company member Ruth Brill called Arcadia. Third Rail Projects Extends THE GRAND PARADISE Into September

Third Rail Projects announces a second extension of their critically acclaimed production of THE GRAND Paradise, a fully immersive, multi-sensory experience in which visitors travel to a tropical Paradise. Based on a concept by Tom Pearson, it is directed, designed, written and choreographed by Zach Morris, Tom Pearson, and Jennine Willett in collaboration with The Company and produced in association with Bill Caleo and Zach Stern. Performances take place at The Grand Paradise, a venue in Bushwick, Brooklyn custom-built for the production, where it opened on January 30th and became one of Off-Broadway's biggest hits of the season. Museum Mile Festival Set for 6/14

Now celebrating its 38th year, the annual Museum Mile Festival takes place rain or shine on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.  Over 1.5 million people have taken part in this annual celebration since its inception.  Festival attendees can walk the Mile on Fifth Avenue between 82nd Street and 105th Street while visiting seven of New York City's finest cultural institutions, which are open free to the public throughout the evening.  The Museum Mile Festival's opening ceremony takes place at 5:45pm at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street).  Traditionally, the Commissioner of Cultural Affairs and other city and state dignitaries open the Festival.  Details on the Festival's offerings can be found at MuseumMileFestival.org.
