The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, the area's only year-round producing theatre, is not just known for its Mainstage productions. Shortly after the theatre opened, it launched its own Children's Theatre. The Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway has been a part of the premiere entertainment venue since 1996 when it opened with an original production of Sleep Beauty. That was the beginning of what would become one of the most popular family entertainment spots in Frederick. To this day, the Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway is the area's only children's lunch theater, offering a family-friendly meal before each show, and giving audience members, young and old alike, a chance to meet the character before they see them singing and dancing on stage. The Atlantic City Ballet to Hold Children's Auditions for THE NUTCRACKER, 9/7

No one is ready to say goodbye to summer just yet but for the Atlantic City Ballet, it will soon be that most wonderful time of year, with thoughts of a Sugarplum Fairy and a magical Nutcracker. The Atlantic City Ballet will once again cast local dance school students in a variety of supporting children's roles for their production of The Nutcracker. Over the last 31 years thousands of children have performed in the Nutcracker alongside the AC Ballet's professional company. "The opportunity for dance students to dance on stage with a professional company is an experience most children will never forget" says Ms. Papa, AC Ballet's Artistic Director. "After 31 years I now have former Nutcracker child dancers who were mice and angels, bring their children to audition." This 32 year tradition will continue this year with performances at Stockton Performing Arts Center and the Celebrity Theater at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City. Auditions will be September 7, 2014 and will be held at the ACBT Performing Arts Academy, the official school of the AC Ballet. Auditions are open to all children ages 5 and up. Inspired by the Broadway shows she would see as a child, this ballet is made up of the music from the shows that moved Ms. Papa to have a career in the performing arts. Erie Art Museum Releases Names of Top Finalists of InnovationErie Design Competition

In its sixth year, InnovationErie announced the top four finalists who will move forward to the next round of competition to contend for over $30,000 in cash and assistance prizes. This is the second round of elimination, after fourteen semi-finalists exhibited their original designs at the Erie Art Museum this summer. The four finalists will present their product designs and media arts concepts to an independent panel of judges. The top finalists include Chuck Kownacki's 'Barefoot Decking,' Fran DiSanti's 'a pennelo,' Dale and Susan Hofius' 'RailRyder,' and Jill Fosco's 'Makeup SomethingTM.' 'This year's semi-finalist contestants were by far the most professional, developed, and competitive pool of entries than years past,' said InnovationErie committee chair and patent attorney at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton LLP, David Willoughby. 'The final round of judging in September will be very tough. We have four very-strong contestants that exemplify the spirit of our design competition. I am certain this year's grand-prize winner will go on to be successful in getting their business up and running.' The fourteen semi-finalists' designs are on view at the Erie Art Museum through August 31 in the Hagen Family Gallery. Visitors are invited to vote for the 'Best in Show,' who will receive a cash prize. After last week's 'filler' episode, we are jumping right back into action in Beacon Hills this week. Picking up from the traumatizing PSAT's and the chemistry teacher's attempted assassinations (I never liked science class), Stiles was abandoned by Malia who discovered everyone knew Peter was her Dad, except Malia. But this week had bigger bombshells to drop...like the identity of The BENEFACTOR...I think? And if so, I couldn't have been more wrong about who i thought the Benefactor was if I tried. The Atlantic City Ballet Begins Its 32nd Season with SLEEPING BEAUTY, 8/16
